:confused3 why do posters put each day or "chapter" of their trip report in a separate thread... would it not be easiser to add on to just one thread? it would certainly be easier for the readers (imo)...

thanks for letting me ask! :earboy2:

yes i agree it is easier if its all in one thread or atleast linked toogether
searching for the reports is a pain sometimes even when you subscribe

If they don't link their reports,I usually click on their names, then click other posts by that person and you can usually find all the links, without searching every page.

You aren't the first person to suggest doing it. I think some have no idea to link their trip reports.

LOL! This subject comes up every week or so. I had a post about this very subject right before I started my trip report. I totally agree by the way.

I'm divided on the issue myself. While all in one thread is more convenient to read a whole trip report, multiple threads are more convenient in order to see the most up-to-date post.

i.e., rather than going back to "the battle for my wallet" thread every day to see if a new part of the report has been posted, I could wait until I saw "the battle for my wallet, part _" and know whether or not I had read that or not.

I know it bumps to the top when a new post is made, but a lot of times it's just someone saying "like the report, keep it going" and not a new portion of the post.

SO, I wonder if the best way to do it would be to edit the title each time an update was made, so that people would know? For example, my first post would be "Sorbo78's <dates> trip report, all in one thread (through Day 1)", then during my next post I would change the title to Day 2 and so forth. You can change the title, right?

So that's my idea to streamline the trip report process. Otherwise, yeah, definitely link them.

In the grand scheme of things though, it's not a big deal really. Just my opinion though. ::MickeyMo

When the email arrives telling you that someone has posted to your subscribed thread it also tells you the name of the poster. If it's not the author, you can ignore it.

When I do a trip report I tend to do it on one thread, but I have noticed others don't. It is just easier for met to have one thread going.

it only tells you the name of the last/most recent poster...

i'm glad to see i am not alone in my musings... i just really find it hard to track down each and every installment and therefore tend to skip those trip reports... although i'm sure i would enjoy/learn something from them...
