Why do I get the shakes after I book flights???? Must be excitment...I don't know.

I finally found flights at the price I wanted. SW...$80 each way. Got a non stop to come home and a stop with no plane change going down. Ended up costing $555 for the 3 of us.

Funny, in the span of about 15 minutes the non stop that I wanted to come home went from $80 up to $204.....sad but I had to take the earlier one to still get the $80. Oh well, I still got the price I wanted....so 4 less hours in the sunny south.

I can't tell you why but I am the same way! I do not enjoy booking flights because I always think there is something I am missing or a better price may turn up.

I know I got the best price....I was hoping that with higher fuel costs etc. that I could get a $90 fare so $80 is even better. There were some with AT that with the $10 coupon would have come in at $74 but then add back in a checked bag and paying for seat assignment. The SW times are much better.

I think that maybe for me it's the large amount of money. I rarely charge more than $100 to my CC so every time I need to make a large purchase I get nervous. :confused3 It's not like I don't already have the money. Maybe it's the feeling of being locked into something. I will say that now I'm feeling relieved.....I had really debated canceling if I didn't get the price I was looking for. I really, really did not want to drive again and going over budget this year is not an option. We already cut out a couple of nights too save a few dollars.

:banana: That's awesome - I am glad that you got such a great price. :woohoo::woohoo: You are heading to Disney - having the flights booked just makes it so much more real. :woohoo::woohoo: Have an fabulous vacation with lots of pixie dust.:yay::yay:

Do you get click and save emails from SW? I signed up but I don't get any emails from them so I never know when flights go on sale, unless I were to check several times a day! I don't want to drive myself crazy though because my trip isn't until December 8th. I've only flown with SW in the summer...do you have any experience flying with them early December and if so do you know if flights for those times go below $124 (current price)?
Thanks! :)

That is a great price, Congrats!! :goodvibes

Are these flights for your summer trip or March Break? (I noticed your countdowns)

I do get the emails but I do check the website daily when I'm on the hunt for a flight. I go to Kayak.com and SW at least twice a day to keep my eye on the prices. I actually think it's fun to check....now I have nothing to do but wait for August.

I haven't flown SW in early December so I really can say what the fares should be like. I know there are sites that will show what the current and past trends are. If it were me I would wait for a bit unless you know that you will fly SW again soon enough to use any possible credit that you could get if you book now and then the fares drop.

I also booked for our October trip on Southwest yesterday. Been looking for months and months! Unfortunately, my parents that are flying also coming down are insistent that they will only fly from Toronto, and are having a hard time finding flights at a decent price (if you can consider any flights from Toronto a decent price!)

Congrats on also taking advantage of the $80 fares!

$80 for flights...

The cheapest I've seen out of Winnipeg here is $511. :sad1:

It's actually fairly common for those of us that are using a US airport. Even my March break flight was $79 one way....had to pay $119 for the return but we booked in late January so all things considered it was still good. I really didn't think I would get this good of a fare with the fuel prices being so high this year. The last time fuel was up in the current price range we had to drive to FL...the lowest we found fares for that year was over $1000 for 4 tickets. To compare, the summer before we booked our tickets at $54 but that same summer SW had a seat sale for July departures for $34.

I'm actually rather amused that now I never even consider YYZ as a possibility. There just are so many more options with using BUF. Multiple daily non stops and I can find a departure time that suits my schedule. When I have used YYZ it has me going to the airport at 4am or arriving home at 1am.

I feel your pain:(

Halifax isn't the cheapest either, which is why we're so okay with schlepping to Portland or Bangor ME, for flights...plus a little extra shopping time;)

When we find anything out of YHZ for $400pp, I'm happy with skipping the drive to PWM.

Grand Forks, or Minneapolis - although that's a what?? 8 hour haul?...and even then, you might pick up a seat sale out of Winnipeg for cheaper...maybe!!:goodvibes

Good luck!

:)
