Just looking for advice. I know price is one difference...How about transportation time, ambience, rooms etc. Any help appreciated!!!! :cool1:

I like having a queen bed and everything under one roof. DS 6 likes the bunk beds and viewing the animals. The restaurants are pretty good too. pirate:

The transportation takes longer at AS because you have to stop at all 3 resorts. AS is just as far away from MK/Epcot/MGM as AKL. AKL has a larger pool w/ slide and zero entry. AS pools are basic, but nicely themed. AKL has larger rooms. AKL has restaurant options, you will get sick of the AS food court very easily. AKL has animals to entertain you. We stayed at ASMO the first time we visited Disney as a family in 2002. We had a great trip but would not choose to stay there again. We will be staying at the AKL for the first time next month and am really looking forward to it for all the reasons that I mentioned.

I've never stayed at a value, but have stayed at AKL and say it wins hands down! The bus transportation at AKL was great because you did not share transportation with another resort. The bunk beds are nice if you have children. My kids loved sitting on our balcony and watching the animals. We loved being in one building, especially on rainy days! The hotel is beautiful. We spent hours just walking around and sitting in some quiet spots on the hotel grounds. We loved it there. I'd say it is our favorite hotel!!! If you plan on spending time at your hotel, definitely stay at AKL. If you just need a place to sleep, then AS would probably be fine also. But for atmosphere and great transportation, go for AKL! :flower:

The theming is just fantastic. You truly feel as if you've been transported to another place. Having 2 great restaurants, room service, and an exercise/spa also are big pluses for us. Surprisingly, dh lists the inside hallways as a major plus.

Why would one choose a Disney resort over a Six Flags resort?

It is like walking into a dream.
The smells, sounds, colors EVERY little detail is Disney.

Now I hate comparing the values to Six Flags cuz they are fun, it is just that when you stay at AKL or other resorts where Theme is everywhere it is almost like sleeping/eating/swimming in the park.

We just got back a couple of days ago from staying at AKL. We had room # 2301 which has 2 queen beds, we would of liked bunk beds but the view we had was too good to change rooms. We always had animals outside of our room. We were also very close to the elevator & ice machine, & the laundry room was just down the hall.

The first room they gave us was room #4317 which would of been a great view but there was too many trees right outside the balcony so all we saw was tree tops. so we asked to change rooms and got room # 2484 which had high bushes touching the balcony & then the view was just a little corner of the savannah & straight down all we saw was people standing there looking out to see animals. So we asked again to change rooms and got room # 2301 which had a great view.

The cm's at check in were great, They talked & joked with our grandsons the whole time & none of them seemed to have a problem at all with our room change request.

Bigger room, bigger beds. The ambience, the animals. It is an incredible hotel. You can't compare the two ( I know that isn't what you are doing). I was in awe the 1st time I walked into the lobby.

The reasons I would choose AKL over All Stars:

- Deluxe vs. Moderate
- Interior hallways
- Theme, resort and room
- Dining
- Lounge
- The animals
- The magnificent lobby and the feeling I get when I walk in there.
- Activities
- Queen beds

I had a fantastic room (2nd floor, Zebra trail), and an amazing experience. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Would you buy a Ford Focus or a Crown Vic?? Thsts the difference between an All Stars resort and the AKL. :rotfl:

I've never actually been to WDW yet (planning for May 2006) but from my research I'd stay at AKL rather than All Stars because seems less crowded, quieter, I'd like the ambiance better.

I would think that any of the value resorts would be booked with mostly families (better prices) which would make it busier and perhaps noisier. Although for me, a hotel room is only for sleeping, I do like quiet since I'm a light sleeper.

I like the AKL alot...whatever they say about the animals keeping you up at night or waking you up in the morning, is not true. my family stayed in a room on the savanah, and they take in the animals at night, and bring them out in the morning...so it conveniences you. All stars are great, and home-y. But AKL makes you feel good inside for some resons. The rooms were great. The location is just about perfect, and everything. But I think All stars are closer/more convenient....but hey, that's just me!

My family of four stayed at the Pop Music for two days before heading to AKL on a last minute trip last March. I can honestly say I would not have gone back to stay at Disney if Pop Music was our only experience. From the locker room soap dispensor in the tiny shower, to the rock hard beds, the price break is not worth it. The only high point was the cool big boot outside our room. LOL We'll save up and only stay deluxe from now on!

In fact... POR Garden Suite reserved for Spring Break this year!! :cloud9:

Hey!!! I love my little green ford focus!!!!!! Crown victoria is for old people (sorry)--anyway, AKL is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No comparison at all!!!!

They don't take the animals in at night. We had a lot of animals outside our room over night. We never heard them at night, but in the morning you could hear some of the Antelok Cattle, but only if you were outside. The hotel is well constructed and noises from outside your room were pretty much non-existant. We never heard anything.

I have to say, too, that AKL is a better choice then the AS's. The lines at the buses alone were worth the stay. We would have a dozen or so people waiting for the AKL bus while the AS's would have 100's.
