Why won't Obama release these documents?

This is incorrect. I have read all the links in this thread. From what I read, the plaintiff (the lawyer who brought the suit) filed the initial papers to start the lawsuit and requested discovery (various documents) from Obama. However, Obama's response was a motion to dismiss the suit. In the youtube video the plaintiff even stated that it is a legal response. The defendant does not provide discovery documents while the motion to dismiss is pending.

From everything I've read, NO JUDGE OR COURT has ever ordered Obama to produce a long form birth certificate. If so, please provide a link to something that says a court ordered this. Yes, plaintiff requested it-that is not a court order and if the case is dismissed, the request is invalid.

So he needs to take that to the court that asked for it, along with his transcripts. Problem solved!

What court has asked for it? I know the plaintiff in the lawsuit asked for it but that is in no way a court order. Plaintiffs ask for discovery all the time...that doesn't mean the defendant has to provide it. Has the motion to dismiss been ruled on yet?

I don't get how the fact that Obama is ignoring the law is totally being ignored by his supporters. The same people that call for Bush to be impeached because of his actions with regards to following the law. It truly unbelievable.

I understand that this guy who brought the case against Obama is a crackpot, but it doesn't change the fact that a judge ordered Obama to produce his BC and he hasn't.
I don't think Obama has anything to hide but it certainly concerns me that he seems to think he doesn't have to obey the law like the rest of us.

The entire premise of your post is incorrect.
As of today, NO COURT has ordered Obama to produce his birth certificate or his transcripts. NO JUDGE has ordered Obama to produce his birth certificate or transcripts. The issue of whether Obama has to produce these documents which were requested by the plaintiff has not yet been decided by the court.
A request from the plaintiff is NOT a court order.

That is not a court order signed by a judge. It's obviously not signed, which court orders are. If you read the prior post, you would understand that what you linked to is a "proposed order" submitted by the plaintiff in hopes that the judge agrees with his postion and signs it, granting his request for the birth certificate.

Well here I come back with my tail between my legs, just kidding . I can however admit when I am wrong and in this case I am. In my haste I came across the link and many others that did turn out to be rumors . There has not been a ruling yet, so I do apologize for posting false info. I just spent the last half hour or so trying to find the truth and it does appear that there are many out there that do believe a ruling has happened. I will reserve my judgement for after the ruling is made.
So it is late and I rented Sex and the City and I really want to watch it before I go to bed, so off I go.

I can't believe this topic is still up for discussion.

I was born a few years after Barack Obama and have a birth certificate from the State of Hawaii. It looks exactly like his does. I did have a hospital issued "long form" when I was born; it was on black and white photo copy type paper. I requested a new one since the old one was impossible to read, I was sent the newer "short form". Our state does not issue the "long form" any longer nor do they keep it on file. I'm not sure why anyone would dig so hard to get one if this is the new standard, but possibly the hospital where he was born would have a copy.

The Honolulu Advertiser ran a story about this when it first became news. They confirmed in that article that Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, they even ran a copy of the orginal birth announcement with his mother's full name and address at the time.

I understand that the McCain camp is down to desperate times, but I would think there are longer straws to grasp at than this one.
