I do great all day on my WW. I very carefully count my points and measure my food. Then I come home and all He** breaks loose! It happens when I'm making dinner. I take a bite of this and a bit of that and next thing you know I'm almost past my points before I've even sat down to eat dinner!! I can't take this any more. I've been on program for 7 weeks now and I just cant seem to get through making dinner. I have lost 11 lbs, but I'm up and down because of the nibbling. Somebody help me!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I'm lucky because dh makes supper most of the time, so I don't have that problem. Do you think that maybe you need a few days break from your program ??? I took a break for 3 days (didn't start out that way, but after my day at the golf tournament, staying off program for the rest of the weekend just seemed like a good plan - LOL) I can honestly say that it was the best thing for me. I got right back on plan, and the desires I was having for late-night snacks were more "controllable" since I had just had 3 off-program days.

Sending you {{{{HUGS}}}}

Mary Liz

Thanks for the huggs MaryLiz :) . I actually give myself one meal a week, ususally Saturday dinner, to eat a meal I really like. I just can't control my nibbling at dinner time. I don't snack at night either. I'm not sure what's going on with me.

I don't know much about WW but could you find some legal food that you could eat before you begin cooking dinner? Perhaps if you weren't quite so hungry you could control the nibbling?

Have you tried chewing sugar free gum while you are cooking? You would have to take the gum from your mouth before you tasted something, wouldn't you--do you think that would slow down the nibbling?

I'm just guessing here, trying to think of ideas for you.

Another thought, do you usually have salad with dinner? What if you ate your salad while you were cooking? I know that sounds weird and is most likely against all of the tenets of WW but as I said, I'm just trying to come up with some ideas :)

{{{HUGS}}} sweetie. Good luck with this. You've done very well to lose 11 pounds in 7 weeks.

Thankfully I don't have quite the same problem but in the past I have seen it recommended for people who are evening eaters, snackers, whatever you want to call them that they start counting points with dinner.

You are given a range of points for each day but there is no reason you have to start your day with breakfast. Start counting points at dinner and if you find that you are eating a little too much in the evening then the next morning and afternoon you know to be extra careful to make up for that. Does that make sense?

Try brushing your teeth before you cook dinner and enjoy that fresh minty feeling.

No good advice here, but the sugar free gum and teeth brushing suggestions sound really good to me!

Don't be so hard on yourself!!! I think that writing out your post was a great start to conquer the dinner preparation taste feast. Just set a goal of making it through TONIGHT's dinner preparation WITHOUT having a taste of anything! Even if you have to munch on some baby carrots of celery to get through it, DO NOT eat any of the food you are preparing. Once you conquer tonight, you will have more confidence to get through tomorrow night. Then it will get easier.

Good luck! Keep a glass of ice water handy while you are making dinner. Drink alot! Be extremely conscious of what you are doing, don't just mindlessly put food in your mouth. Write down on a piece of paper in big block letters NO EATING UNTIL WE SIT AT THE TABLE and put it on the microwave or someplace you will see it.

Good luck!!!!!

I have the EXACT same problem! I've found the following help me out:

1.) Katholyn already said it....GUM! Keep the gum in your mouth, and the food out!

2.) Brush your teeth before hand. The fluoride/mint will make you not want to eat.

3.) Measure out something to nibble on BEFORE you start to cook. I use pretzel nuggets. 1 serving, and keep them in arms reach. Instead of nibbling what you're cooking, or peeking in the fridge, nibble on your snack.

4.) Same as 3, but use carrots. (I never count them as points....nobody got to be overweight from too many carrots!!)

5.) Get OUT of the kitchen! Unless you've got to continually stir something, get out of the kitchen. Go do other things.

6.) Dig out the crockpot. Find some crockpot recipes. Throw everything in before work, and boom! Dinner's cooked when you get home!

7.) Cook after dinner, the night before. Then put whatever you made into a casserole dish, and heat it up! Or now that it's summer, have some nice cool salad with some chicken breast on the grill.

8.) WATER! Drink so much water that you gag. It'll make you feel really full. Then, you'll pass it, and be ready to eat!

9.) Mint tea. Drink a mug of mint tea (iced or hot is fine). Studies show peppermint to ease not only stomach trouble, but hunger!

10.) If all else fails, here's a GUARANTEED nibble free recipe:

Ingredients:

About $6
Car
Subway restaurant

Directions:
Get in your car, and drive to the nearest subway restaurant. Order your favorite sub from the 6 under 7 menu. Get a bag of baked or WOW chips, diet soda. Enjoy. Serves 1. To serve more, simply, add $6 more per person. (Example: to feed 3, you would need about $18) :teeth::teeth::teeth::teeth::teeth::teeth:

Good suggestions, everyone. :D

I keep some 0 point veggies around to nibble on while I cook, I like celery sticks, broccoli and cauliflower.

You guys are the best! I'm going to try all of your suggestions...and take it one dinner at a time;) .

Isn't WISH just the greatest help, kimnicki? I'll bet you do great with this, just take it one dinner at a time :)
