Why Why Why all the acronyms???

I'm a newbie here but most things were fairly easy to pick up. I have done message boards for so long, I think in acronyms too.

A true DISer has so much to type in so little time.

After all, who wants to type MVMCP or WPASADI or MVSHP, MIL, SIL, etc everytime we post?

Here is some practice:

My DH and I are going to ASM then to BWV with DD8, DD6, DS3.
We have ADR's at APK, CM, WCC, SF, and going to DTD.
I'm on WPASADI TPAS Team #1

This is a perfect example as to why acronyms work so well. If we didn't use acronyms, this would read:

My husband and I are going to the All Star Music resort and then to the Boardwalk Villas with our one daughter who is 8 years old, our other daughter who is 6 years old, and our son who is 3 years old. We have advanced dining reservations at the Akershus Princess Lunch, Chef Mickey’s, Whispering Canyon Café, Sci-Fi Dine In, and going to Downtown Disney. I’m on the Wickedly Perfect Awesome Survivor Apprentice DIS Idol Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies Team #1.

I like the acronyms much better. Especially when I'm leaving the post.

I have been reading the discussion boards for about a month now. We are going the first week of January for the first time. When I first started reading the boards I was confused also about the abbreviations. At first I thought DH meant DUMB husband....as in dumb for getting talked into going to Disney. My attitude has changed now. I am looking forward to going. :)

Perhaps I'm slow but I keep tripping over all the acronyms!

And I can't help thinking how much time is really truly lost typing out "husband" as opposed "DH" or "POR" vs whatever the heck POR means. Arggggg...enough!!!

It's frustrating at first but hang in there. It will come to you faster than you realize!!!

HTH. :rotfl: (Hope that helps!)

That's what is so great about DH!! Depending on context it can mean Dear, Disney, Darling, Dang, Dumb, Dam, etc. ;)

Oh and you really do pick up on all of it after awhile. Just hang in there. And let's face it, most groups whether they are work, school, or hobby related essentially all have their "language" that you have to learn when you start.
