Why the Price Difference

I tried something last night and got 2 different results. I bought everything serperately and got one price. Then I went back and got a package with the same things and the price was about $65 more. I always thought that packages should be cheaper, but in this case it would be better to book the room, then just buy tickest from the site seperately. Has anyone else got the same result?

It's not impossible, but sounds a bit off. Often differences come from some difference in what you priced out, even if you didn't realize it. Could be insurance was added, could be a preferred room vs. regular room, a number of things. You might be missing the tax on the tickets when pricing it out separately. With no discounts involved, the price should be about the same using individual components or a package.

Insurance is $66.95 per adult - if there was only 1 adult, that could be your difference.

Packages, unless a discount deal is involved - should price out to be the same. The Dining plan generally saves some money, but pricing out meals is rather involved and imprecise.

When you price out park tickets on Disney's site, they don't add the taxes until the very end.

If you priced out tickets on another website, you may have encoutnered a savings.

As another poster pointed out - often trip insurance is added.


Beyond that....packages almost never price out exactly as they should. They are often 'off' by a few $, usually in Disney's favor, but were talking in the ballpark of around $5.

I agree withthose who say if you toggle back and forth, the options that DIsney automatically adds keep going back to teh default options. The default options vary a little it you are looking at various packages and discounts. They like to make the park tickets a certain number of days, and to add the water park plus.

I know it sounds funny, so I did it again. Everything is the same. When done seperately I get off cheaper. I just cant figure out why.
