Why the New DVC Forum Format?

Yesterday, I noticed a subtle change to the way the Disboards displays the DVC Forum boards.

When I enter the Disboards, all six DVC related boards (Purchase, Member Services, Resorts, Mousecellaneous, Trip Reports, and Rent/Trade) are collapsed into a single entry: DVC Forums. To see the six boards, I need to click on DVC Forums to expand the display.

I also notice that the Trip Reports board is now a subset of the Mousecellaneous board.

I'm curious why Disboards made the change? Or is it just me and my browser that are having this issue?

Not just you ... I now see the collapsed, single entry, as well. That makes it harder to navigate ... just one more nudge to spend less time reading DisBoards!

On the plus side, it makes marking everything read much easier, since I can now mark all the DVC forums read with two clicks and ignore the rest of the site.

I prefer this. Now I can bookmark the page that shows just DVC forums and hit it when all I want to do is review those. That was actually one of the features that existed years ago before these boards went to the current format.

But why put the DVC Trip Reports board as a subset of the Mousecellaneous?

I am ok with the new format but had to search a bit for the trip reports.

i preferred the non-collapsed DVC section based on how I use the site.

Another vote for the old clear cut easy peasy non-collapsed version. (Not that they're asking for a vote - it's just JM2C.)

I figured tha boards were having issues yesterday.

I preferred the old set up as well. Hate additional clicks!

I am against extra clicks. It just seems strange that only the DVC Forum was collapsed. Is the DISboards testing it using the DVC forum? Why was Trip Reports added to the Mousecellaneous?

Maybe because the trip reports has 5% of the posts of any of the other forums? Personally, it's the only DVC forum I don't visit.

perhaps DVC readers likely a small subset of overall traffic here or just plain old spring cleaning to tidy up the joint lol.

It is odd... but even odder to me is why is the Aulani board between Theme Park Strategies, Disney Resorts, and Disney Restaurants instead of in the DVC area?

Aulani has a non-DVC hotel component and many non-DVC members rent DVC villas for cash direct from Disney. Thus, it doesn't surprise me that the Disboards placed the Aulani thread where it is located.

I'm with you, Bill. That would be a nice feature. As for the change, I prefer the previous setup based on how I use the boards and what I look at. The new setup just adds a click or two for me.
