Why the change in mug shape?

I really do not understand why Disney changed the shape of the mugs again! My Dh and I love these mugs, we always go on the deluxe plan so we always get new ones (we love to use them at home), plus we have some from pre-dining plan days. First we had the large bottom kind that did not fit in any cup holder, then the type where the bottom is smaller than the top (love these as they fit in the car cupholders!), now they changed the mug again since May (our last mug purchase) to a new shape, I don't know how to describe it, but all it does is tip over in my cup holder :guilty:. Just venting I guess since I just cleaned up my car from a tipped over mug!

Is this a resort mug? I didn't have a problem with the one we got last year.

If you're talking about the re-fillable mugs, I'd guess they change them so it's harder to get away with using old ones from previous years. That said, enforcement of that rule was very lax at PoP when we were there this Oct.

My guess would be that they want to sell you new mugs!

just like the "mickey" coffee mugs. They change every few years...

so we just GOTTA get a new set!!!

hehehehehhehee

I miss the old "fat" mugs for soft drinks... You could a lot more Diet Coke in those!!! I liked the choice between a cold or hot beverage mug... I understand why they did away with that though, I guess.

Are you sure? Everything I've read and experienced indicates both mug styles held the same amount of liquid (twelve or fourteen ounces).

I guess I am a little confused. This past trip, I've seen quite a few people bringing their old mugs back to the resort to use. Can you bring back the old mugs to use?:surfweb:

You're right. We have measured all the mugs over the years and they all hold the same amount.

I don't think that is allowed...

BUT

I did read somewhere that way back when WDW first started the refillable mug idea, they actually sold some as refillable for life.

And they will still honor that.

frankly I am suprised that Disney dosn'y simply sell some sort of scannable keychain good for refills, and let the guests use recycleable paper cups, or a Disney mug or travel cup of their own choosing.

Are the new straight sided mugs double-walled, giving them insulating qualities?

I miss the old mugs...big and round. I use them at home every day!

We don't even get the new ones...to fit a cupholder or not, I don't care, just bring the old fat mugs back. At least they used to give you a choice fat/cupholder...not anymore!

I really like the look of the new mugs. But then I don't use mine in a cup holder..... I prefer the slim ones to the broad ones. Personal choice.

on Last count I have 24 of these.......minus two tops. some of them sort of stayed on the tray and I probably threw them out when we got up from the tables.....
I like the new sizes better because they do fit in the cup holder.....but in the house I use the big ones. And I did measure once to verify that they both (fat ones and slim ones) had the same amount of liquid in them.....
Ones that I dont use often are the ones from the Dolphin. They had no handles....

One advantage of the "slim" travel types is that if I am wearing Cargo shorts or pants, After finishing my drink I can put it in a cargo pocket and enjoy the parks when I am there, or at home. and not have to worry about walking around with an empty cup!!

in fact I am enjoying some kona coffee in my Mickey travel mug right now....Mmmmmmmm!!!

(no rum!!)

I love the new slimmer shape mugs. I do not like the fat ones nor did I like the smaller 2 shaped ones.
These are just right. (sounds like goldie locks lol). :lmao:

I loved carrying it around while at the resort and now that I am home I don't use it as much but I have it sitting in my kitchen window so I can see it. :rotfl:

one good thing about the new ones for me anyway... is I can designate which kid got which color (handle and lid)and:worship: no more cup fights..
even at 10 and 13.. good grief.. "he took my cup, I wanted that one":lmao:
