Why the $99?

I just received an e-mail from Disney yesterday advertising the mods for $99 for the fall. With the closing of cbr during that time and relocating of customers already with reservations there, doesn't it seem foolish to offer the $99 for the mods? Why not a special for the deluxes?? Looking for your 2 cents-

It's possible that the "left" hand didn't know what was happening with the "right" hand. If that's so, there will not be much availability for the special rate.

It's also possible (this is more likely, IMHO) that even with CBR closing, fall hotel bookings are way down. Disney has a lot of rooms to fill. I'm thinking that there are a lot of rooms going empty during the week, and thus the special promotions. Wouldn't be surprised to see them for deluxe hotels as well. Maybe there are deluxe specials - you probably got the moderate postcard based on your past booking patterns.

I also got that email ...... I wonder how many of them they sent out? I can never go when I get the deals though......:(

I guess I'll throw my theory out also :-)

With CBR closing people are being called and offered rates to switch, most of the posts I have read are from people moving to the Deluxes, so since so few people seem to be taking the trade to Moderates maybe they have lots of available rooms at the moderates that they had originally blocked for the CBR people.

That was my thought too - everyone has moved to a deluxe from the CBR closing (most everyone) - they are now trying to fill up the moderates.

I think they feel they are more likely to fill the moderates at $99 than trying to fill the deluxes at a reduced rate (most deluxes are more than $150 with the current discounts). If they would have just moved the CBR people to other moderates, they would have alot of empty higher priced rooms that would have been harder to sell.

I'm sure promos are set up to fill a price point regardless of availability.

We got that e-mail also. I called and asked if the rate was good at Coronado Springs and was told no. So I guess they plan on at least CSR being full this fall.

The CS is a convention hotel. Haven't heard that the fall convention bookings are down, so CS is probably kept relatively full from those.

I also received the email. I thought seriously about going, well at least until I checked into Airfare ... that almost killed me.
I was checking for early November and even spirit airlines was like $334.00 round trip. Air Tran wasn't much better. ):

I would also like to receive emails from disney or postcards
regarding specials. We just returned from disney and plan on
going back next year. Does anyone have an email address or
telephone number for information on getting discount info.
Thank you.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I get those emails pretty regularly. Got one earlier about the $89 rates at the moderates, and just got this one a few days ago about the $99 rates.

Think it started when I registered for emails or getting a resort/cruise video from one of the disney websites.
