Why Super Shuttle or Disneyland Express over a Taxi?

I am just checking why people choose the bus and vans over a taxi?

Is it really more inexpensive to use the shuttle for a family of four? We are now a family of 3 so I am debating if it is cheaper for the shuttle now.

I do love the quick/direct transport and not having to go to 3 or 4 hotels.

We will be needing transport only one way b/c DBFF is renting a car later in the week so can return us to the airport. We are traveling from LGB instead of our usual SNA.

There's no Disneyland Express to/from LGB.

I personally haven't had the experience of several stops before my hotel, though I have had the experience of several stops on the way TO the airport. But if you go with their time suggestions it's OK, there's time.

We generally use LAX. Taxi was once offered to me at a flat fee of $75. One way. Round trip Disneyland Express is similar to that for the 3 of us (a bit more, but round trip). Plus, it means we don't have to bring DS's carseat.

If I chose to fly into/out of LGB I'd either rent a car or consider a taxi, after comparing SS prices (its different at each airport).

It's about 14 miles from LGB to DLR as the elephant flies. So that should make for a manageable taxi fare or an easy drive if you choose to rent a car.

DBFF will rent a car a few days after we arrive. She has to go back to LAX to pick up her parents and sister so she is renting a car and picking it up at DTD. We will have the return trip to the airport covered.

My youngest is now 8 so I don't have to deal with a car seat. She uses one at home still because I am a firm believer if the child is small enough to fit it is still the safest way to go. But on the flip side she is tall enough to be able to safely ride without one. I am an Occupational Therapist who deals with Brain Injury clients all day so I have watched lovely trauma videos of what happens to kids who don't ride in car seats when they are little. But I digress.

I will be able to fit us in the regular cab this time instead of waiting for a van taxi since there are only 3 of us arriving at LGB.

Thanks for the info I think I will stick with the Taxi since it is quick and convient.

From LGB I think a taxi is best, as SS doesn't offer the same cheap fares as they do from SNA. I take SS because I fly into SNA and the fare, with coupon code, is only $7 each way. Even with my family of 5, that's $35 or about $10 less than a taxi. However, LGB has a different SS fare and the convenience of a taxi makes it preferable since the cost isn't much (if any) different from the shuttle.

For whatever reason I can't snag the URL to the SS code directly, but the whole specials page for transportation is here. We took the DL Express from LAX to the Desert Inn and Suites because of the carseat issue. We had two in carseats and just really didn't want to lug our own seats around and then deal with installing them into a taxi/shuttle or a rental car--I don't trust carseats from rental agencies. The DL Express stopped at a LOT of hotels before getting to ours. Actually, it forgot our stop and dropped us off at the next stop. Such a pain, but we were able to avoid lugging the carseats.

We have never used a shuttle service so this should be interesting. If your plane is late is their a problem?

When we went on our recent November trip we took a limo from Long Beach Airport to the Candy Cane Inn. There was four of us. They only charge us $60. It was a wonderful experience. Our plane was twenty minutes early and the limo was waiting for us with snacks and ice cold water and pop. Our driver, Terry, was sooooo nice. We also took the limo back. We will never take a taxi, shuttle or the Disney express ever again. The name of the limo service is Le Fleur Limousine. I found them by using Limos.com. It was just a stab in the dark. I had several limo services give me quotes. Le Fleur was the cheapest by far. I was very worried because this was the first time we have ever used a limo service in California. The limo was beautiful and we could not ask for a better driver. The phone number I have is 310 527 6978. They also have a web site. Hope this helps

I got the code from retailmenot.com. I use code UYR59. Sometimes it doesn't show up on the site but it works when you plug it into the SS website.

Some codes allow you $2 off per person each way, and you can get that for your whole group at once. That's the one drawback with the UYR59 code--you get $3 off each way, but in order to get it per person and not per party you have to do each person as an individual reservation. It's easy, but not as easy as doing your whole group together.

The code UYR59 still works for Super Shuttle to get $3 off each way and, just like DizMe says, to get the discount for each person in your party, you have to set up each person separately. Thanks for the info DizMe!

There are only 2 of us going this time and I'm trying to decide on taxi vs. DL Express to and from SNA-DLH. On the way to the hotel, does the shuttle stop at other hotels first, or is DLH the first stop? I read that on the way back to SNA, it goes directly from DLH to the airport.

from lgb i would honestly try hotwire for a rental car it was cheaper then a shuttle or taxi this was feb of this yr.

other times rental car way to much so we have done the super shuttle and had no problems.

You won't have to register 4 times, just 2 times- once for your DH and once for you. This is because they will automatically give you $6 off on each roundtrip.

Is it generally faster to take the Supershuttle or other small shuttles (we're landing at SNA)--less stops at other motels/hotels (we're staying at a Harbor Blvd. /Tropicana) than to take the Disneyland Express. I'm wondering if the larger vehicles tend to make more stops because they have more passengers and more likely to have more locations to stop at.
