Why so much availability on the Feb 24 cruise?

I just checked the DCL website for availability during the Feb 24 Wonder cruise to see if it was sold out and they listed availability in Cats 5, 8,9,10,11 & 12. Doesn't that seem like a lot being only a month out? No wonder I haven't gotten much of a response on the Cruise Meets thread :confused3

There goes my dream for an upgrade!

Only my opinion but...
Once DH and I went to the Carribbean in October (hurricane season we didnt know it then! We got great rates, and same thing, empty Hotel.??

It was awesome! We had the jacuzzi's to ourselves, never a wait in line for a seat at the restaurant, no lines to get in the Club, more than one server, the others were hanging around so they too waited on us hand and foot, complinetary drinks at the bars, fruit baskets in our room... we felt like woweee this is Star Treatment! (Honestly, they probably didnt want the fruit to go bad!) We really had the place to ourselves. Later, friends filled me in on their experiences... hour+ wait for dinner, refused from Nightclubs cuz they were packed... skipped the pool, too crowded, noisy halls, full excursions, etc...

SO ENJOY! :smooth:

I gather that is really a non peak week. Parents who are inclined to take kids out of school probably would do it the week of President's Day, or Lincolns Birthday, so the kids wouldn't miss too many days of school, or wait until Easter.
Heck, the local school district here takes PRESIDENT'S WEEK off, then Easter week 4 weeks later as well. Alot of folks here are doing to Disneyland during President's week, or during Easter week.

Was this on a Disney cruise? At dinner, everyone has an assigned table and wait staff. The only way I could imagine waiting an hour for dinner is to show up at 5:00 pm (knowing dinner starts at 6:00).

I can't comment on the night clubs, but most cruises are sold out (or fairly close), and there haven't been any (or very few) posts regarding not being able to get into a night club.

Pool and excursions comments could be right though. Just make sure to book excursions when you are first allowed (60 or 90 days).

That's why my kids are off from school and why I thought it was so odd to be that empty.

I'm not complaining! I know it will be awesome

It is Presidents Week here in CT, that's why I am quite surprised there is no one else in the cruise meets thread!!!! Our Presidents Week is 2/21-2/25. the only thing I can think of is flying home on that Sunday could be hard. I know we spent over 300.00 a ticket to get to MCO non-stop from LGA (Laguardia/NYC). We can usually fly to Orlando for under $160.00 a ticket!

My guess would be that it is not fully booked because it is off season and Feb. can be cold. Cruises in the off season tend to fill up toward the sailing date, and it isn't unusual (at least in my experience) for them to have openings available on short notice. I once booked a cruise less than 72 hours before sailing (don't know if you can still do that, but.....)

Look at it this way. If the ship doesn't fill, you will have increased chances of an upgrade, more flexibility in Palo and Spa scheduling, etc. If it rills, you still will have a great cruise.

Why would there be increased chance for an upgrade if it doesn't fill? I though they upgraded only when they needed to sell your category :confused3

I would be on it if I wasn't having a baby - they have some great rates for that cruise!
