Why should I pay these prices?

We are wanting to go 12/27-1/3 this year. I have to work Christmas eve and day and can get off New Years by doing this. My oldest son is a senior as well so we feel one last big trip is in order.

Needless to say, I am getting rates of 434 at YC and even the moderates are 200. If we go to a moderate we need two rooms. The boys will not sleep together. Even a roll away is very difficult in the room to navigate and DH and I are not comfortable in a regular bed.

I have been thinking about splitting the reservation and booking separate on Travelocity from 1/1-1/3 for 289 at YC. Is this really difficult? Do they put you in the same room or make you move? I have switched resorts but never ressies in the same resort.

What to do? Our favorite resort is WL but the boys are too big for the bunks now. Too tall and broad.

I would split up the reservation into two but make the second one with CRO as well, not Travelocity. The value season begins on January 1 and $289 is the rack rate, so you'll get that rate whether you book through CRO or Travelocity. If you book them both through CRO, then your chances are much better that you would not have to actually move to another room, since both reservations would be in the CRO system, they can just make a note on the reservation. You will have to "technically" check out and check back in, meaning you'll get new ID cards. But it's definitely woth it to save the $$$.

Last November, I booked 5 nights at WL through Disney Club (is that CRO?) Anyway, needed to add an extra night due to airline schedule problems. Disney did a separate reservation for this one night and just noted that it was a 'continueing stay' or somethng like that. I simply checked in when we got there and did nothing further. No checking out, back in, anything. The CM said when I booked to point it out to the front desk and they would take care of it. They did...

Have you checked on the price for a junior suite a WL since that is your favorite resort? 2 queens and a living room with a pullout sofa. It also has a frig and sink in the living room.

I see that you are an RN, have you checked out the nurse discount rate at the Swan or Dolphin for your dates? We stayed at the Dolphin for a rate of $154 for club level, standard rate was $129.

I got a stupid question. I was under the understanding that the rooms you book through Disney, if the rates change due to season during the stay you get that season's rate. Am I wrong?

You pay the rate of the season it is when you check in for the entire stay. It works out great if you check in on the last day of Value season. But it can also work against you if you check in near the end of Peak season.

Last year we used the RN rate at the dolphin 12/28-1/1 and then switched to AKL for 1/1-1/5 after the rates dropped. I just couldn't justify the holiday rates. The dolphin was cheaper than a moderate during Christmas week.
