I know this has been asked but someone must know why only
certain dates are showing up for discounts at the Swan and
Dolphin.

my dates are march 19 - 26 and only the 23 - 26 are at the AP rate, I dont understand? this is actually Easter weekend and you
would think the weekend before would be cheaper?

hmmm... anybody have any information, please share!

Well I only got teacher's discount for 2 out of my 5 days - 1/21-26. When I asked about AP they said the resort was at 90% capacity and they wouldn't be offering any other discounts at that time.

As far as Easter goes, it's unlikely that any group would book a convention during Easter so the S/D might offer the discounts then. We have found that during July 4th and Christmas holidays.

I plugged in several dates between Jan. and Sept. at both the Swan and Dolphin. I did come up with $169 on a few days, like the first few days of February. It did seem like on several times when I was putting in 4-5 days at a time, the discount I came up on only 2-3 days of the trip. I only found the $149 price for the beginning of Sept. Does anyone know if they aren't giving the discounts on weekends or certain days of the week, or is it just at random when the conventions are being held?

If some of the rooms are released that have been reserved for the conventions, will the discount rates be available?

Apparently they must read this website and have decided that they aren't charging enough! Sadly, the only reason everyone stayed there was due to the discounts! Good luck S&D!

exactly my thoughts, they are losing my business this trip.

I thought we might try the Dolphin for one night prior to our Polynesian check-in. Even with an AP, the rate is $233 p/n for a standard--$333 for a balcony/resort view! We really were just looking for a less expensive resort and remembered these resorts used to have great rates--what's up? For the amount they want for these rooms--we'll be planning elsewhere for our one night rest-up. Gee whiz, why pay the premium $$$s when you can stay in Disney magic for less or equivalent? Guess my curiosity about S/D won't be sated this trip.

i have even been checking HOTWIRE, as we got $96 a night
last June at the Dolphin, it is coming up at $202!

I am surprised at this, too.

I am just hoping it isnt packed!! at DisneyWorld!!

What I find laughable is that the teacher "discount" is more than no discount!! At least for my dates Jan. 4-7!!! I'm confused:confused:

Are you looking up prices on the S/D website or DU's?

I checked DU and came up with $249/nite as the teacher rate. We stayed at the Dolphin three times in the past two years for $129/nite. Sorry Dolphin, you've lost our business. The rates have doubled in less than a year. Renovations and cushy beds don't justify this rate.

I am getting married at the Swan in June and checked the rates to find out that we cannot afford to stay there for our honeymoon. And we really wanted to stay there and try the resort out also. Oh well, a Disney moderate will suit us just as well, even if not as convenient.

We also liked staying at the Swan but their prices this year even with all the discounts we can qualify for is too high.... $240 per night. We could only get the teacher or entertainment rate for one day out of our whole trip and that was at $169.00 which is higher than last year but not as ridiculous as $240.00. Yes, the Swan is a nice hotel but in my opinion not worth what they are charging. I guess they have enough business during the times some of us will be there so they don't feel the need to offer their discounts as much. We'll be staying at a moderate or an off site suite this time around unless things change prior to our trip.

I made it a point to let all of the people I know about the S/D teacher discount we had last Easter , what an awesome resrt it is and how it is every bit as much a Disney Resort as the rest.. I bet I get nailed really soon by people making Easter/Spring break plans with.."I thought you said..." Oh well... I'm glad we got to stay there once.... I guess keeping our options open for our Christmas 2005 trip was a good thing.... Now I have to keep my fingers crossed for those magical codes, etc....:D

"Anticipation.... Anticipa a tion....."

Boy, I hear you there! My family is planning a Grand Gathering for April and I did the same thing about "you can't beat the S/D for $149, etc..." I'm glad I encouraged everyone to make ressies @ PC when the AAA Discounts came out because it looks like they will be getting all of our business. (We have AAA, AP's, Gov't Workers, and a Nurse in our group and Still can't get lower that $189, and only for a couple of days during our stay!)

we are doing the grand gathering in March, and I too was holding
out for AP rates for The Dolphin, thank goodness my SIL was smart enough to have us hold ressies with a AAA discount at
the POFQ!!! WOW, I am still surprised by the higher than usual rates.
I wonder if they will come down when nobody books them!
hmmmm...

I did get $169 a night for all 5 nights that we wanted the Swan for in February. We have not stayed there before - is this still a good rate? I was hoping for a little cheaper - but maybe I should just be glad that I got all 5 nights. I did call to get the rate - as the website showed it was available for only 1 night.

Is $169/night worth it?

according to the website rate, yes that is good.

however, discounts last year were $149. I think they just raised prices because of the normal increases we see every year.
So for now that is the best you can get. UNLESS, everybody stays away and they lower rates due to underbooking.

We can only hope.

It sounds like you were lucky to get $169 for all 5 nights. Whether that is a good deal depends on what they are asking at the BC and BWI at that time. If it's Valentine's Day or Presidents Week, then I'd say it's probably a good deal. If you can get the other Epcot area resorts for less than $200, then I'd probably go that route.

One of our visits last year was Easter week, and we paid only$129/nite. The other visit was President's week and we paid the same. I was not happy with the $149 or $169 rate, so I'm finding these new rates really bad.

Wow, I'm so glad I decided to try both the Swan and the Dolphin this past year while I could get excellent discounts ($129 Dolphin, $149 Swan). Loved both of them, and would love to stay there again. But the discounted rates that are out this time are definitely more than I care to spend. I'm looking to add on one night before and one night after my BWV stay coming up for Easter. Guess I'll keep looking...
