WHY oh WHY do they load Haunted Mansion in such a terrible way?

The doors of the stretching room of HM open and you're all herded into a dark funnel. No lane markers...everyone HAS to get out of the room, but the line hasn't cleared from the last group and the line slowly narrrows down with much bodily contact with others.

I guess they've been told to move people out of the visible line, into the interior one, but it was so unpleasant. The HMs in California and Paris don't have this problem.

Your right...along the outside of the moving walkway and up against that wall is like some kind of trap. Sometimes when you go inside there is no one in there but other times I feel like I'm in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when they get in that room and can't find a door out. You would think there has got to be a smoother way to load it. :wave2:

I really hate any of the lines where everyone lines up neatly one by one, then everyone is squoooshed together into a a big lump of humanity, and then... they have you line up one by one again.

I would certainly give up a little theming for some order.

Actually, I find several attractions at Disney to be like this. No line control at all. And why do people have to get so pushy? Everyone will get in eventually. Once at The Muppets 3-D Show where everyone has to stand behind the line before the doors open to enter the theater? This elderly "gentleman" was so afraid that we were going to get in front of him that he held his arm across our then teenage daughter's chest! I was fuming. I wanted so badly to yank his arm off of her but I didn't want to put on a bigger show so I pulled her back instead. The nerve of some people. We laugh about it now but it wasn't funny at the time. And what's with the moving floors? Am I the only one who cannot get the hang of them after all these years? I just know I am going flat on my face one of these times. I'm so thankful all the attractions do not have them. (just my favorite ones of course).

guess I am in the minority, I love the way HM is loaded...it is eerie and I find it moves fairly well..

and loading everyone into the preshow seems the way to go for not only disney, but universal and many other them parks.

guess it is just the best way to shuffle people without making them think they are waiting to long.

I think the Doombuggies load rather efficiently. The line can be long, but it moves quickly. :earsboy:

Excelent point. Unorganized maybe but efficent, definitly.

I never really thought it was a problem, and even after reading the OP don't see what the issue is, but then I always go off season, so that may make a difference. There isn't a line waiting when I get out of the stretching room ever.

I like the way Haunted Mansion loads. its like a free for all. everyone for themselves kind of deal.

Although maybe its me...

Usually though... me and my friends get in front of the 'door', and then after the speech 'TO FInd a WAY out!!! mwhahahaha. Of course... theres always my way.... cue scream... lights come on... doors open ....we run SCREAMING into the next room.

You know...because we're trying to find a way out.... And if you were really trapped in a haunted mansion and needed to find a way out, thats how youd do it.

More importantly. Its Disney. There are people. People can be rude. I never notice people being rude, and if I do I call them out on it. Most of the time, people are just in their own world and they smile and get out of the way. I can relate being mystified and walking the beat to my own drummer at the world, Ive walked into people pictures, ran into small children.....sometimes it happens. Instead of letting annoyances dictate your life, try to ignore these things and have a good time :)

Though I dont have an issue with the loading on HM, I am one of those people that even after all these trips to WDW, I too cannot get the nag of moving floors. I stumble everytime. :teeth:

Disneyland's HM loads similarly, through the stretch room, but when discharged from the stretch room there is a long hallway (the portrait gallery) for guests to walk through before they get to the loading area.

In WDW they made the portrait gallery part of the ride, leaving not much space for boarding. They board the way they do in order to get the crowds departing from the stretch room down into a single file line with a minimum of space.

I also don't care for all the guest coralling at Disney. I always feel like going "moo" when the squish us all together like that. Usually, I just tell myself that I'm at Disney and go with the flow...It's only bad if you let it get to you. If someone wants to push in front of me that bad, I just let them go, I know I'll get to ride eventually.

Maybe WDW imagineers think that people will be courteous and accomodate each other! That what a kind person did for me.

Tee hee..."squoooshed"....that's my new favorite word! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I just laugh when I see people running out of the stretching room to try to get to the doombuggies. Like they were going to shut down the ride any minute, so you'd better hurry and get on. My favorite moment was walking down the long ramp to IASW and there was NO ONE in line and these 2 ADULTS come running past us to get on the boat! Of all the rides to hurry to get on!! Of course the funny thing was that they had to wait for us to get on the same boat with them before they would let the boat go. hee hee

>>> his arm across [our] teenage daughter's chest ...

You mean the people behind your daughter were pushing her up agains this guy's arm?

>>> lump of humanity

Needed to get people in and out of the stretch room more quickly. They figure that by the time you get this close to the doom buggies, there isn't any significant delay if a few people get ahead of you.

>>> come running past us to get on the (It's A Small World) boat ...

Perhaps the CM loading the boat saw them pushing past you and seeing that, deliberatly held the boat for more people (for you)

I don't know but "why-o-why" do they have to play the music sooooo loud?!?!? :rotfl2:

It is fine when crowds are light, but I was there recently with DD and Dan Murphy. Once we left the stretching room and began moving to the single loading line, it was like a herd of cattle. People were literaly taking baby steps to keep from stepping on each other. I was having a hard tiime staying with DD and Dan while people pushed in front of us.

Honestly, I don't care how they load it. It's my favorite ride! :)
