Why not put it in writing? ADR's Disney keeps you guessing?

I have my trip all set for Sept.

I have most of it in writing! :hourglass

Why :confused3 Diseny, don't you have any way to put our ADR's in writing?

Do they do it on purpose incase they make a mistake? ( I'd hate to be left standing
at the front of the restaurant with nothing in hand except my handwritten notes.....180 days from now)

I know you can get a print-out once you check-in at your resort.
But I'd like something printed on Disney letter-head 90 days before I leave... so I know that all my planning won't get dropped the next time someone calls Disney that has the same (all most) phone number or last name as me :teeth:

Funny how there is no proof? No paper-trail makes me nervous :rolleyes1

Markstudy - they enclose a sheet for you to write it out on in your reservations pack - just got mine yesterday.

My guess is - with many folks double and triple booking and changing ADR's - it would be impossible to "capture" a printout for any more than a moment in time.

I am one of those weirdos who show up for my ADR's w/o the numbers. Never had a problem. But then, maybe I'm on pixiedust!!!!

Exactly.

And if they did have to have a papertrail of every new reservation and/or change, the printing, paper, and postage costs would be ridiculous.

I guess Disney would need an expensive IT project to email and keep track of it electronically.

Oh well :hippie:

When you arrive you can ask for them to be printed out, usuauly the telephone number or the resevation numbe,r whichever you used, will pull up the list. However, it may not be all of them.

I have a very nice report that I fill in as I make my ADRs. Then, it goes in my fanny pack when we get to WDW...I've had to pull it out a few times for the number because someone had my name spelled really, really wrong!!

People change their ADRs so much, I would hope they'd charge for each confirmation they'd have to send before check-in, so we're all not paying extra for all that paper! :)

I wish that at least you could go on-line and check your ADR"S just like your room reservation. I booked our resturants at 180 days out and when I called 2 months later to confirm they had some with wrong dates and some with the wrong # of people in the party. I am thinking about calling again to triple check out ADR's.

I'm sure there is no mistake conspiracy there. People are constantly changing their ADR's. The information would be outdated before you got there and then it really would be a mess. People would be showing up for ADR's they had cancelled and missing those they added.

Aside from the reservation that can be made online through companies like Open Table, I don't know of any restuarant reservation that is confirmed in writing. If the rest of the world doesn't do it why would Disney think to do it?

As I made my ADR's I typed the restaurant, time, and confirmation number into and Excel spreadsheet. All I have to do before we leave is print it up and put it in my wallet. Hope this helps.

I suspect that somewhere in a backroom of old Disney building is someone shaking their head saying "Why can't these quests accept responsibility for their own actions".

Not sure what that means?

I make 98% of my ADR's once :wizard: at the 180 day point (and might fine-tune one or two that same week). But by the 175 days point, I am done making changes.

It would be nice to have something official in writing.
I'm going to show up in 5 months and hope that the computer didin't go down or the system change my data, or a human mistake when someone else changes theirs?

I guess it would be nice, if Disney offered one print-out per trip. (they could charge to get more then one print-out)

You could request it once you locked in your choices.
I know some people keep planning up to the last minute.
I get mine done early. That's why I asked the question that started this thread?

When I show-up at the right time, date and restaurant...I'd like to have proof that I made my apointment with Disney, even if something goes wrong on their end. ( I do carry a list of my own ADR notes and numbers, but it seems to be a very unofficial way to do it) :teeth:

The print-out at check-in is nice but its too late for me to make back-up plans. If I'm going to have a problem... I'd like to have it before all the ADR's are booked for my week :smooth:

I know that they do offer a printout for adrs for grand gatherings- when do they send that out? Anyone know?

If you're really concerned about whether or not your ADR list matches up to WDW's ADR list for you -- why not give them a call periodically to find out. If you made your ADRs with your confirmation #, then that shouldn't be a problem for the CM to find them for you. Or if you made them without a confirmation #, you probably made them with your phone # -- same goes with this -- the CM should be able to retrieve them and read them back to you.

And yes, CMs have been known to make mistakes. I always have the CM repeat all my information to me before hanging up. I do this because I have seen too many guests at a podium with a CM who cannot find their ADR (or PS as it used to be called), and to have them FINALLY find the ADR, but it's for a different day. Heck, I've even had them book me for the wrong day over the phone -- so I always make sure they repeat everything back to me -- date, time, party size.

Hope this helps. princess:

I think a lot of guests would object to having to comply with your admirable restraint! :lmao: Seriously, since guests differ with regard to how they address this, and dining reservations aren't important as room reservations, I don't see any reason to exert too much energy in this direction. There are so many things that Disney could devote their resources to that would pay off better.
