Why not buy 7days w/ no expiration date?

TARAinFl make sure to look into the Fl. resident discount for the Magic Your Way tickets. I don't think the base ticket price is much reduced, but I know the add ons such as hopping are MUCH CHEAPER than for out of state'rs. Not sure the exact prices, I'm a seasonal pass girl myself, it is actually cheaper than the Magic tickets, but you only get a year out of it.

Some thoughts...I have an AP. I'm able to get it for $100 off since I'm a DVC member. I usually have at least 14 days a year on mine. I am planning a trip in May for 5 nights. I will be buying my dd her own AP since she'll be there for 4 days in May and then another 6 in Oct. However, I'll be getting dh a 10 ph, non-ex. He'll be there for the 4 days in May, but not in Oct...this way he can hold on to it and use it at anytime. Much cheaper for us to do it that way. Sure, I could get him an AP for about $335, but he most likely wouldn't use it again until the summer of '07...hence the 10 pass.

Forgive me for jumping in, but we just returned from our first trip and loved it! and now we want to go back (now I know why everyone has so many repeat trips!) anyway, do you think it is best to do these 7 or 10 day passes w/no expiration dates and then just plan to use them for future use - we don't live in Florida so it would be buying them for 1-2 trips in the way future...but then I guess you lock in this years' price and I haven't done the math, but is it much cheaper?

Thanks in advance for any advice !

Thats what I did for my family, after we got back from our first trip I started buying everyone no-expiry 10 day passes one at a time, I figure we can go back 2 or 3 more times on these. And I got them in '05 before the price increase.

I think, as noted above, the one downside to doing this is that you might end up not being able to take advantage of lodging package deals from disney.

Room only discount codes seem to be disappearing. By far, the best savings these days, if you stay on site, appear to be the package deals that combine room savings with ticket savings, or give you free plus or hopping features on your tickets. Moreover, many people like the packages because they have the dining plan. It's hard to take advantage of these packages if you already have prepaid tickets. At a minimum, you need to end up buying at least one day of tickets (which, for a family of 4, can be well over $200) in order to get the package. So, you're in position of either paying non-discounted rates for rooms or taking those prepaid no expire MYW tickets and sticking them in a desk drawer for a later trip.

We like to stay on site, so this is a downside for us. We're planning a trip for later this year and feeling a little foolish that we're sitting here with never expire tickets that it looks like we won't use because it's not cost effective to use them. If you stay off site, by all means. But if you stay on site -- and I know this is not consistent with the advice you read elsewhere -- I'm really starting to believe that the best option is simply to take the best deal you can find on what you need when you need it and just trust that another good deal will pop up in future years when you need it.

(Now, this is a sheer financial analysis -- none of this addresses the psychologicial aspects of never expire tickets. For some, perpetual planning and a drawer full of no expire tickets has a psychological value in addition to a financial value. It's just darn nice to know you've got a prepaid admission for that next trip. I expect that many of us, since we're here on this board, are in this category. In that event, have at it! I wish they sold a 100 day no expire ticket!)

The day we left WDW we added on 3 more days - for a 7 day pass...with no expiry....we also only used 1 extra.....so we have our next trip's admission pd for. Now we are looking for some room codes for October. I want to spend my 40th BD with Mickey!!!

We did 10 day no expiration tickets last summer and are returning this summer to use the rest :earsboy: so I would definately say good idea - only suggestion would be to look at the 10 day instead of the 7 - not much more money and adds 3 days
