Why not an annual passport?

Please bear with a DLP newbie.....

It's never cost efficient for us to get an AP to WDW. We won't go twice in one year, so the cost of a 10 day ticket is cheaper and we just get that.

Looking at the DLP prices, I need your help to see if I am missing something obvious. :confused3 If blockout dates are not a problem, it seems MUCH cheaper to get an annual passport (especially the lowest tier one) than to get anything over a 2 day pass. Since I think we could spend more than 2 days there (couldn't we???) please alert me to any downside of getting an annual passport vs. a regular ticket.

If it matters, I have no idea if we'd stay onsite or off.

THANKS! :thumbsup2

one thing to consider is that when staying on site, the tickets are generally included with the room unlike at wdw :)

I had wondered about that, as people kept saying things like, "If you're not staying onsite..." or "if you ARE staying onsite" as if it made a difference.

So when I look up a room package, that will INCLUDE our park tickets, but for what number of days? Let's say we spend 3 nights at a DLP hotel. Do we get a 3 day ticket or a 4 day ticket? Can you hop with that ticket or just go to one park per day?

Thanks again!

We're staying at the Cheyenne for 4 nights, we have tickets for the park for 5 days, included in the price we paid.

Hope this helps

if you book, say, a 3 night 4 day package you will get park tickets, which lets you in to both parks, for 4 days. if you're staying on site it is cheaper to do this than get the annual pass and book a room separately. but if you are staying off site (and not buying a package which includes the tickets!) then it is often cheaper to buy the annual pass.

when you book a package lets say for four nights you get a five day park hopper ticket. so if you are staying onsite you would be automatically paying for this if booking through disney. if you are staying offsite it is cheaper to get aps if you are going for more than two or three days.

If you book directly with DLP, your tickets will be included. If you book with Expedia, for example, tickets may not be included. Make sure you double check. :)

It is sometimes worth just one family member purchasing an AP so you can get the discounts on food and merchandise.

sorry to gate crash this thread...but where do I get info on ap prices etc. reading some of the replies posted here have I got it right that you can get dicsounts on food etc with an ap???

If you get the most expensive AP you get 10% off all food and 20% off merchandise in shops. PLUS you can stay offsite and still go in to Extra Magic Hours. Got to love it.:thumbsup2

One thing to be aware of with the cheapest (francielien) pass is that you cant use this for day 2 and 3 after activation. So its only of any use if you are intending to spend those 2 days elsewhere.

You can phone to get room only prices onsite if you have an AP but you dont often save much by doing this and room only arent included in any special offers eg the 40% of etc- we had APs and it was cheaper booking the room with 40% off and getting tickets we didnt need than getting the room only
