Why no AP weekend discounts?

We've been checking the boards and websites and there don't seem to be any weekend AP rates available, only weekday discounted rates. Is Disney not giving any weekend AP discounted rates anymore?

Actually the online AP site has not shown any weekend discounts, but they do exisit. When I couldn't get the discount I called and there were discounts for the weekend. I don't know why they don't show up online. I actually now just check the Florida resident rates (which are the same as AP rates) and the weekend discounts seem to show up there. I had January 26th reserved at the POR FQ for $99 a night (which was the same as the weekend day rate), but switched it to Pop at $69 a night (but the week days are only $49 a night). This is a Saturday night. Of course, now with this late dates the pickings are probably slim now.

Disney has less problems filling the hotel rooms Fri, Sat, and possibly Sun night. It's much each easier for someone to decide to visit for the weekend, or take Fri or Mon off for a long weekend then it is to come midweek. I imagine that when they decided to change so rates apply per night, (no more checking in last day of value rates to get for the whole stay) that it made sense to do the same for the AP rates. Simple matter of demand. Same reasoning, but opposite days, for why rental cars are so cheap on the weekends. (Less business people using them while on trips)

There are also length of stay requirements put into the system for certain dates, so you could get a weekend discount but also would have to book weekdays or a longer stay to get them. You can always try to put in an entire week or play around with dates to see if you find availability. The weekend rates may be higher but you can see if the AP discount is showing up vs. full price for the Fri/Sat.---Kathy

Not sure about the length of stay since I only booked one night, Saturday January 26th. I was offered a value for $69 or a moderate for $99. However, if the OP is traveling during marathan week or MLK weekend, all discounted rooms may be gone.
