Why isn't Disney offering Developer pts for BLT?

Hi -
I am new to this group and just posted this as part of my 1st post-

I wanted to also let you Know I gave my guide "Jenna" the green light about dinner time last night and there were not any extra incentives but the 5 dollers off per point -(saved 800.00)-No brick -no extra nights ect ....
But she just called me and said at the meeting today they found out they
would be haveing "Bonus " points and that it would be added to my contract-
They will be good at saratoga ,Disneyland or world passport collection and to be spent by October 9th 2009-Would this be the same thing I read about on here called developer points ?

Hope that helps

Is this for a "new" contract or for an add-on?

Any information on this would be great?

Thanks,
Jerry(jjgraff30)

How important is having the 11 month window on your home resort if you don't go at Christmas or Easter? For instance if you buy SSR but want to stay at BWV in March, if you book in the 7 month window are you likely to get your reservation for a 2 bedroom? Do those go the quickest?

Wow! Confusing! We are planning to buy into BLT, however, I want to fully understand DVC and how it works first. I also want to get the best incentives. Is there somewhere I can go to read about stuff like what I quoted above? I have no idea what that is talking about!:confused3
We are planning on touring when we go down in Dec...maybe that will clear a lot of the confusion!

The question is basically about how important home resort advantage really is. You can book at your home resort 11 months prior to your trip and at all other resorts at 7 months out. I think the poster you quoted was asking if booking at 7 months is really a challenge if you are traveling at times OTHER than Christmas or Easter. To simplify things, the answer is YES. If you are traveling the first 2 weeks of December, it can be tough to book without home resort advantage at many resorts. If you are traveling during Food & Wine Fest and want to stay at Beach Club Villas or Boardwalk Villas, it can also be very tough to book at 7 months out.

I think if you look at the sticky posts at the top of this forum you'll find a few introductory posts that are helpful.

Read up as much as you can - the stickies at top, these threads, Disney's DVC info ( you can get a dvd & info mailed to you ). Incentives are subject to change and may or may not be offered and often vary depending upon what DVC location you are at when you enter into a conversation &/or tour (ie WDW, DL, Doorway to Dreams in Chicago, on a Disney cruise ).

Regarding 11 month & 7 month window in post you refer to :

when you purchase DVC you pick a Home Resort where you want to own your points, you will then have a booking advantage so to speak at your Home Resort - at 11 months in advance of check-in date you want you may call DVC Member Services to book at your Home Resort. For DVC resorts that you do not own points at the earliest you may call for a reservation would be
7 months before a check-in date you'd want. Some members will book their Home Resort at their 11 month booking window and then at 7 months try to switch their reservation to another DVC resort that they would rather stay at for that trip.

Some members have alot of success getting reservation at dvc resort they want booking 7 months or less in advance, but it depends alot upon resort and also upon time of year ( ie BCV & BWV are difficult to get for Food & Wine Festival using 7 month booking window and holiday times, spring break, school breaks are difficult at most resorts )

THANK YOU!...for clearing that up! I understand now! It is all becoming clear...

Wow we bought BLT 2 weeks ago and didnt hear about these developer points.. Guess I am calling my vacation guide today

When you say October 9th, doesn't DVC usually give you 1 yr from date of contract to use the "Developer Points"...3 disneyland Hotels, SSR, or through Interval International(really 2 yrs through II)???

Curious about the significance of October 9th? Perhaps the guide meant November 9th??????????????????

Glad to see DVC is offering Developer Points to "sweeten the pot"...You said $5 per point credit and relatively low Dues correct?

Thats a nice deal!!! The best of luck!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

My guide told me october 3rd for the expiration. I should get my documents sometime this week and I will let you know what mine say... I am hoping they are from the contract date (Nov 8th; as I would be much more able to use developer points if that's the case!!!)

I received my documents for the developer points and the contract states they need to be used by Oct 3rd 2009.

I just was there and added on BLT on October 30. I repeatly asked if there were any other incentives and my guide said "none". Did I lose out again?
By the way the waiting rooms were full!

3d) All reservations utilizing DPs must be booked no more than 7 months prior to check in date, must be confirmed and stays must be completed by October 3, 2009 or the DPs are forfeited. Any DPs unused after October 3, 2009 shall be forfeited.

The search for accomodations for a 7 night stay at a Resort available through the Interval International Exchange program may be initiated within 12 months of the contract date and stays must be completed within 24 months of the contract date or DPs are forfeited. Reservations and stays for short stays must be completed by October 3, 2009 or DPs are forfeited.

All reservations are subject to availability and are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Accommodations are limited and other restrictions may be imposed. Not all accommodation types are available at all Resorts. Room upgrades are not available. DPs may not be used for wait list reservations.

Does this just mean I have to deposit for an II search by October 3, 2009 if I can't rent out my points. I would have to use it by November 8th (our contract date) of 2010?

Be careful on dates using Developer Points through II...

Trip must be completed by 2nd yr of contract date.

We're using our DP"s at Grand Californian Resort, DL...
Can't book until 7 mos out though....Never been to California, so this should be AWESOME!

Good luck with II....:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: One of our vacas, I plan to initiate a search for a fun location..The Royal Resorts in Cancun look real nice!

Best of luck planning your DP's....Nice having a "freebie"!!!!!!!!!

We're thinking about two "Short Stays" ONe to ski in march and one to Daytona Beach for a friend's wedding.

Disneyland would be amazing, I just can't find reasonable airfare and with paying for the pass and everything... IT would be much more of a cost than a "freebie". Skiing in March and Daytona were two things we were going to pay OOP for anyways.

Can a search be initiated for Devloper Points SHORT STAYS?

I seem to remember reading something which restricts Developer Points through Interval for Short Stays???

Anyone?????:goodvibes

Short stays must be completed by 10/3/09. A regular week long II exchange can be used up to 12 months after deposit into II.

Short stays are also instant matches. I don't think you can do an ongoing search for a short stay.
