Why is there no dump station?

Never been to a campground without a dump station or water fill. We have a Class B and could probably fit into the tent sites for a night or two if nothing else available but the lack of dump prevents this. Kinda a bummer. I did read on here that someone used an empty site to dump but not sure how they would go.

There is water in popup/tent sites. Just no sewer as these sites are catered towards tents, popups and camper vans where people generally do not need a sewer connect because they use the bathhouse.

Oh they will actually let you? That is good to know. :tigger:

Nobody stopped me ever. I roll out of a Tent site and hit a nearby loop. There is always at least one empty campsite available. Just back in and empty the tanks in a few minutes.

And wave to the neighbors. You won't be there for long.

Or, look for a dump station somewhere else. There has to be places along your route. I think if you ask when your checking in, they will move you to a diffrent site if they have one. Especially if you have a longer stay. They dont want people walking around with honey wagons. Bad for there image. But yea, find an empty site. It works. The confert stations are pretty nice also, if you are inclined to use them.

Having a Class B with smaller tanks it's really better to be able to dump where you are especially if staying longer than a weekend, so being able to dump into an empty site just gave me so much joy hehe

We've been instructed to use an empty site by the Fort CMs in the past - we used to have a popup and the 1500 tent loop was always our favorite.

Thanks for the info, last two times we stayed right next door in 1400 (not a tent loop) and would walk through 1500 to get to the pool and always thought how nice it was and what a great location. May try it next time we go down since you guys are all saying you can dump in empty site. :mickeyjum

Our last stay was in the 2000 loop near the end. Unfortunately the site next to us was used frequently for dumping by folks leaving the 2100 loop. It happened often enough for us to decide we will never stay in that loop again. Not everyone was polite enough to clean up any mess they made.

IMHO the reason why there are no dump stations at the Fort is because there is only 2 loops (1500 & 2000) designated for Tents/Pop-ups and van campers. All other campers ( travel trailers, 5th wheels, class A and class C) can dump when they arrive at a campsite designated for this type of an RV. The Fort does not allow these RVs in the Tent loops ( I know it is not always enforced) because they will take away the small amount of space for the tents and pop-ups and of course the sites are smaller. Many years ago this rule was enforced daily to ensure enough spaces for the tent/pop-up people. When the Fort realized the pop-ups were getting toilets, showers and sinks they decided to allow them to dump in an open site when they were arriving and leaving. I have seen many in the tent loops that were not supposed to be but I have also seen the Fort make people move to a full hookup site if one was available and of course pay the up charge.

That's too bad. My husband is a meticulous clean freak as am I. We don't even wear shoes inside our RV or in our home and take care to be that way with the outside also around our home and anywhere we go, as our RV is our home away from home and would never sloppily dump anywhere and never have. Frankly people can be slobs at their own designated sites hookups and we are not and never have. I hope we can all say the same including you. :earboy2:

Are you assuming that with me that I am going somewhere I should not be? I am in a Mercedes Sprinter Van which is a Class B, not a C or A and it says concrete pad measures 25 feet and vans allowed, so I fit. I usually always go to a regular hookup site but for a few days I may do it, especially as I see the opposite with more tent sites available and have been having a hard time getting into any of the regular hookup sites with our on the fly last minute trip we are trying to pull together. As far as your comments about dump, I have never seen a campground even those with just few tent sites, not have a dump station.

Hi tinkerdorablle, Im sorry if you thought I was singling you out I was not just giving my opinion why the Fort does not have a dump station. My post does state exactly what you stated about the class of campers allowed in a Tent/Pop-up, I never said a Class B was not allowed and did mention that Van campers like yours were allowed. I was just stating the Forts rule on those types of sites. Hopefully we both can agree that the Fort is not like any other campground in the country and I have been to way to many to remember but I will say that a lot of the newer Motorcoach resorts and smaller RV resorts do not have dump stations.

I have been in the tent loop when i wasn't supost to, and they also did move me halfway through my stay. I had a pup when i booked at the max window, but didnt have a camper by the time i was going to arrive. So , i bought a TT, and they said it would be ok. They did move me halfway through my almost 2 week stay to a nice prefered site. As soon as one opened up. So, sometimes they allow it. I think they didnt want me walking my honey wagon all over looking to dump it. But who knows.

Appreciate. Never experienced myself about the dumps but I'll take your word for it. I am happy they do try to help those that need to to some extent by what I have seen on here. But I am not trying to do something I am not suppose to and wasn't sure of your post but appreciate your comment and making it clear. Have a nice day! Hopefully we will too if we can get to the Fort soon like we are trying hehe

We stayed in a tent in that loop once, it was great. Site 1521. There was even a pathway from our site directly to the comfort station. It was also very convenient for walking to the meadows area.
