Why is there an option for a 7 day out meal reservation?

You know how when you call for ADR you have to go through what seems five thousand questions? I've always booked well in advance, but we're wanting to make a switch--we leave next week, so this is totally last minute. Anyway, they have an option that says, "If you're calling for V & A or for the next 7 days..." Why do they have that as an option? Our trip is in 6 days, but the meal we're wanting to change isn't until the later part of the trip, so the reservation I'm wanting to secure/change isn't technically 11 days from now, so I didn't select that number as an option. It seems almost absurd to ask this, but do they hold any seats for last minute people making reservations and that's why there's an option for making reservations in the next 7 days? Anyone know? Thanks!

I may be wrong, but I read somewhere yesterday that if you are arriving within 7 days or are at your resort you can call reservations and they will look ate the date you want to go eat on, and look up several restaurants at one time rather that one at a time. Someone please tell me if I am correct about this.

I called while we were down there and used that option. I had gotten sick and was unable to attend one of our meals. My DH and kids said it was great! So I called on Thursday night and asked if anything was available for Friday am. Sure enouh, there was.

Also, my cousin and his family did not make any ADR's prior to traveling. They would call dining the night before and ask what was available for the next evening and make their ADR's then.

I guess for those reasons, and others are why they have the "next 7 days" option on there.

I used that option too...we were already onsite but not in our room so I called and could not believe the options available....
