Why is Polynesian only 15% discount?

A few weeks ago, I booked the Poly for September 2016. Just now I quickly updated my reservation with the new Back-to-School savings discount (btw, I love that you can apply discounts to existing reservations right on the website!).

Of course the big letters say you can save "up to 25%" for Deluxe resorts. After I applied the discount, I ran the numbers to make sure I got the 25% discount, and the calculation came up to only 15%. Huh? Then I expanded the offer and saw that Poly is really only a 15% discount. Why is that? During my reservation dates, that is the lowest discount percentage given across all categories.

I'll take 15%, but I'm curious why Poly (and Beach Club) are so low compared to everything else.

Do they offer any other discounts that are better, i.e. Annual Pass, FL resident, etc?

Because the rooms are full and they don't need the higher discounts to fill them.

You're lucky you even got the discount. I have existing reservations for Poly as well. I can't get through on the phone and online it tells me I can't update my reservation to have the discount, even though I fit the dates. I actually just booked and put the deposit down on GF for the same days as soon as I saw it become available, using their 25% discount and will now wait to see if I can eventually get through to either change my Poly reservation to have the discount or just cancel that reservation and switch over. I'm not positive if one will save me money over the other anymore because the website keeps crashing on me. UGh......

Probably. I see availability at both Poly and GF, but they must have it down to the exact number of rooms, etc. :teacher:

Gosh, I guess I was lucky. I had actually tried calling two different numbers first, and both said my call couldn't be completed. On a whim I tried through the website and the modification worked perfectly. Funny enough, as I was pondering the 15% thing, I tried a mock booking at the GF to see what was available and only the club levels had any discounts, but without discounts, there were lots of rooms to choose from. Club levels are too expensive for me, so I'm sticking with Poly.

After the dust settles, I'll call on the phone to see if there are any other types of discounts. I've tried that in the past, but they usually aren't any better than the advertised ones. I have to try, at least. :)

Just because you fit the overall promotion dates doesn't mean a discount can be applied. Room inventory for those dates must also be available, and not every room can get the discount.
