When I went to make ADR's for LTT for next year I was told this will no longer be a character meal, does anyone know why they would do this?? We loved the food here so we are still going to go but the characters gave it that extra special touch

No official word but I'd like to think it's to cut down on the number of character meals. Seems to be a glut of them these days. With this one and the Garden Grill in Epcot going characterless, there is only one main character meal restaurant in each park (Cinderella's at Magic Kingdom would be an exception). Crystal Palace, Tusker House, Norway, Hollywood & Vine.

I thought the Garden Grill just cut out lunch, but still had characters for dinner?

That's what I thought too. Epcot has so many more restaurants then the other parks, that it wouldn't hurt them to have two character options.

Garden Grove still serves character dinner. It no longer serves lunch at all.

Apparently this is a cost-cutting move - fewer character dinners means fewer CMs to pay - those playing characters can also be channeled into other areas. There may also be new character meals coming, who knows. There is a rumor going around about a pirate meal.

I wondered this too as we tried so hard to get our character meals and the lady I spoke to at the reservations said the character meals book up very fast, so I was confused on why they would limit them when obviously they are doing good business???

Well, I was very sad to learn they are doing away with LTT as character meal. We hadnt yet tried this one and were excited to add it toour DDP ADR's until I read that some time ago! I am hoping they add a pirate meal as my boys would LOVE that! I would also think a power rangers or handy mandy/mickeys club house type meal would generate interest and customers!!

i think it's a bad move for disney, one of the reason we go to wdw is to see the characters, they are what makes disney so special. i think if it is a cost cutting move, it's not worth it. they need character meals, and only having 1 place per park is not enough for all the people that visit the parks to be able to get and adr there. i cant believe disney would cut that important aspect from the wdw experience. hope they dont cut anymore!!

I really am going to miss the characters at LTT.

I couldn't agree more! Taking that part of Disney out would be like tearing down the castle, that is the highlight of so many people's trips. I understand them trying to cut costs here and there but when I think about how much money they are STILL making this makes me so angry:mad:

I think that's a big mistake. I'm not a fan of LTT for the food, but I love the atmostphere and characters.

In addition to cutting back on the number of cm's, it allows them to handle more reservations. The way LTT is foodwise, they can serve you very quickly and get you out just as quickly. Having characters makes for a longer meal with a longer turnaround.

I am bummed too, it was a favorite of ours and I'll really miss it. Maybe this will be one of those changes they regret and they'll go back to the way it was! Although I doubt it. It seems like anymore, they can fill any restaurant at WDW up to the limit regardless of what they serve and how they serve. I

I am happy to have a reservation at LTT with the characters during our december trip. We've never been and it's our last chance to see the characters in their cute colonial costumes there. It's really too bad they are getting rid of such a fun meal, I don't understand it at all.

I don't understand it either. It is nice to sit down eat and have characters come around. At least you don't have to stand in the lines, we are eating while waiting.

Even without LTT dinner, WDW still has 20 daily character meals, plus a character breakfast at the Swan two days a week. If LTT was your favorite, it's understandable. But they are in no way eliminating the character meal experience.

I don't agree with this as a cost cutting measure. How many of us will continue to pay the $20-something per head to eat the food the LTT serves? I would much rather eat at a CS and save my money. I pay the extra because of the experience that you get with the characters.:rolleyes1

But my problem is, I must travel to the resorts to get to the character dining. I would rather have the majority of character meals in the Parks. It is more accessible to patrons not staying on property too.
