that similar threads on other DIS boards would go on and on, but on the camping board they are closed? For example, the spreading ashes thread here on the camping board was a DISCUSSION, no one, obviously had plans to do this. i even said in my post FOR CONVERSATION SAKE. No one said, thanks for the info., 'let's do this' or 'i'll say i heard about how to do this on the DIS'. So what gives? Why are threads like this cut short? We all realize it is illegal, no one was disputing that.

If it were on the community board, for example, it would go on forever. Is it because there are so many threads on that board that it's harder to monitor (compared to the much smaller camping board)? I am not looking to start an argument, i am sincerely curious as to why threads are closed so quick on this board, now and in the past.

I think it's mainly because the discussion is talking about doing something that is illegal at Disney. Even though no one is saying anyone should do it, just talking about it is frowned upon.

It's the same as if you made a thread about riding the golf carts off road, or having fires even when there is a ban on them. You might not be endorsing it, but they don't want the discussion to take place. I understand why they close these threads, just be happy that this isn't that other Inter Disney web site, they close stuff down if it's even negative at all ;)

And I actually like that we aren't like the community board, in fact that most of the forums aren't like the community board. That place is just crazy :/

P.S. I admit that this forum is a bit stricter than others, probably because it never used to be as active as it is now. That being said, it's still my favorite forum on the Internet :)

I totally agree Donna. I could see if someone quoted they were bringing Uncle Gomez to the fort next week and scatter his ashes but all that was said as usual, is that since so many good times have been enjoyed at the fort and WDW that it would be fitting to have your ashes thrown there. No matter how many posts are made I guarantee more are closed in this forum than any other. I vote to LOCK the "what do you do with your golf cart trailer" thread down since someone actually said they parked theirs on their site and it's against the rules. I'm being sarcastic lol. The only reason a thread should be closed is if someone uses offensive language or the thread hasn't been visited in say 90 days or so. Just because the mods don't want to discuss it any further doesn't mean we don't.

Sorry everyone. It wasn't my own decision. I ran this past the other mods/webmasters and consensus was that it be closed, since it was discussing something that was illegal. I realize that none of you were planning on doing it yourself. :)

I'm sorry if you think this board is too strict -- and not like the Community forum. But, it's not supposed to be a Community forum. It's a board about Camping at Disney. I really think that Scott (Disney Campers) and I are pretty lenient, considering many threads are not totally about Fort Wilderness!

And, at the risk of sounding like the bad guy (I'm really not a mean person!! :goodvibes ) -- it is against DIS Board policy to discuss a closed thread, or question a moderator's decision. So, once again, I'm locking this up.
