Why is it that the Disners do not set up group bookings?

I have been a member of this board for a few years and I am just shocked that WE as board members are not setting up group or magical gatherings (on a regular basis) for MUCH cheaper stays in WDW. As a group we could all stay for $64 +13% tax for value resorts, $99 +11.5% for moderates resorts, and $119 + 11.5% tax for Animal Kingdom Lodge. The group bookings can be set up so that everyone makes their own reservations directly to Disney using their own source of down payment (which is one night plus tax). All we will need is at least 10 interested families/rooms who would be vacationing during the same time period with all 10 families staying at least 1 night all at the same time. The groups don't have to know each other, see each other, or stay at the same resort. It would be every family for their self. All ever one would need is a group number. That is easy to get. One person has to take the leadership and set that one target date (for example: I will be traveling to Disney next summer July 22-29. I could set a target date for that Sunday July 23. My group would have to commit to staying on site at least that one night in order to get those discounted tickets, meal vouchers, and room rates). My group could stay on days before, during, or well after that target date.

Is it just me trying to be cheap (probably) or better said trying to stay longer in the happiest place on earth. :confused3 !!! Each family could set up their own package and stay at any of the resort mentioned above plus a few others (Polynesian $213 + 11.5% tax, Contemporary $219 11.5% tax, Wilderness Lodge $203 +11.5% tax).

Come on Disner's what are your dates. I already have 7 rooms. We don't even have to meet (although it would be nice)!!!! Maybe I should just book and post my group number with dates on the budget board. :grouphug: PM me or share your thoughts!!!

Great idea! I'd love to take advantage and join your group, but the dates don't work. We'll be at WDW May 17-21.

Good idea, but what happens if you don't get 10 families? What if some pullout before the date? Does the package go up for the others? These would be my concerns. BTW the dates won't work for us. I would be interested in early to mid May.

I would love to do this!!!! What a great idea... unfortuantly your dates don't work for us, we are going Dec of 2007.... My question/concern is that I thought that everybody in your group had to be on the same package???? Amount of days, ticket types and everything the same to qualify for a group discount..... is that not correct :confused3 :confused3

Yes we must have 10 rooms - and I already have 7 rooms for my dates!!! It sounds like you all need to get a group together for May! :earseek:

The only thing that everyone must have is a common date that at least 10 rooms should be booked!!!! You choose your own package, tickets, amount of days, etc.

I would try for 12 rooms so if someone pulls then the group rate would be safe.

Maybe a thread should be started for people who want to do this.... People could post the dates they are going and then others could join in with similar dates... I guess it would be hard to manage and navigate through if there were too many...

This is just such a great idea and I really can not imagine why anyone would not want to do it.
