Why is it so difficult to find a Wii again.

One of my good friends at work wants a wii and I've been looking and looking and I just can't locate one for her, I thought we were long over the slump. Any suggestions or does anyone know if Nintendo is having an issue. You can find a used one for $180, but I'd rather her pay the $20 more for a brand new one.

I don't know but I was wondering the same thing! I just saw on Facebook that a friend got a Wii for her birthday but had to wait a few days for it because her husband had to buy it online...none in the stores. There were stacks and stacks of them at Christmas so not sure why the shortage now.

Yeah, we're looking for a remote, just a plain old wii remote, I already have the motion plus for both ours, but one remote is not working. I can't find one anywhere! Well, I should say not for less than $40, and since Walmart has room on their shelves for ones for $20 I won't pay $40, but they are never in stock.

I heard a Target employee tell someone yesterday that there was some problem at the manufacturer and they had stopped sending out Wiis for a while. She hoped they would start sending them out again soon. I didn't hear the specifics and the worker walked away immediately so I didn't get to ask her.

This article explains it, but basically they had such strong sales at Christmas (due to the price drop and the good games like Super Mario Bros. that were released) that they got way behind on supply. They're trying to catch up, but it will take a while. They didn't anticipate Christmas sales being so strong, so they didn't have enough production in the pipeline to recover from that.

They are in our Target ad this week, but I don't know if they have any or not.

Our DS works at GameStop and FWIW he said that there's a holdup in the Philippines on shipping them to the U.S. The article didn't mention that, though, so I don't know how true it is.

artificially inflated demand.....limit production on a heavily hyped product- and what do you have? a fad! it's pretty simple math for any business to create 'demand' I know,I'm looking for wii fit plus package,and it's nowhere (for the real price) so I'm just waiting.

I had also heard that they're switching everything to black, so that's contributing to the low supply. Our Costco has had a ton of the Wii consoles--you may want to check there. I found a Wii Fit Plus with a balance board at Wal-Mart last week. The clerk said they get a couple each week--they held one for me. Keep calling your local store and hope for a nice employee!!

Not just black, but also pink and blue. I can't find white remotes to save my life, but the colored ones are everywhere.

Interesting, the $20 price tags at my Walmart are just for the motion plus, all of the Wii motes were $50 and they all included the motion plus thingies. The only ones that were cheaper were the knock off ones for $40 and those were all gone too.

I always wondered why the system was white, seems black would have been more practical.

We just found one at Target last week- DH went all over the place looking for one on Saturday- 2 Walmarts/3 Gamestops and TRU. He then preordered one at Gamestop and our last stop was Target- they had a few. So we got one and cancelled the preordered one. We love it so far. Maybe try the Targets in the area.

A few weeks ago Target's ad had the Wii Fit plus on the front cover. I was at Target when they opened and they didn't have one available. They told me they wouldn't be coming in for a couple weeks (they still don't have them). As long as the store sells the product they can advertise it, if they have it in stock or not. Target has a bad habit of doing that.

HI!!! They have a black version of the wii available, over seas!!! LOL, they have them in all colors. The black ones are slated to be release in 2011 and should be HD from what I was told.
