Why is it impossible to get a reservation!!??

Okay, now I'm getting scared I booked our trip in December thinking it would not be crowded (Jan. 26-29)

We are in the same boat. We reserved Caribbean Beach in November, but just two days ago found out that my oldest daughter can go with us. Instead of four people, we now have 5. It is impossible to change resorts that fit 5 people in the Feb 2 - Feb 9 timeframe.

Looks like we will need to stay off of the grounds.

Hmm...don't tell them and just buy her park tickets separate...<ducking and hiding now>

I looked at adding a day for us but ASMu is showing no availibility. IDK, guess it'll be fun regardless.

ETA: I was looking at adding a WED nite, not even a weekend!

Mardi Gras is that week ... I am telling you it is BOOKED.
You might get lucky but dont count on it. I know the GF has been booked at 100% for months now. I have tried several ways to get an extra room and had a TA working on it.... the cheer competitions are also coming in and they have a few conventions going on. I wish you luck!

Mardi gras day is Feb 5 but most kids have the entire week off. If they are looking to escape they are going to do it Thursday or Friday (31, or Feb 1) ...before the crowds start really showing up at our airport. That weekend our airport is completely slammed ... it looks like MK Easter weekend

I know we will be there on Friday and several people I know are going either Thursday or Friday.

I also heard ... or read ... no official proof of this just rumor.. that one of the conventions will be Aetna's big convention. I don't think they will affect park crowds but they do take up a lot of resort space!

I just grabbed 3 of those nites at the YC-now if only the nite we're arriving the 31st would open up! Our flight gets in at midnite-great!

I am curious; why do people come to Disney for Mardi Gras? Is there something going on to celebrate the event? How will this affect park attendance that weekend?

It there is no availability, I sure hope folks have their ADRs. I have mine and we leave on Jan. 26th.

I just googled Disney convention February 2008 and got a ton of hits! Hopefully the parks will stay pretty empty during the day, but it certainly explains why the resorts are full. Just think though, I'll be so sad riding rides when I could be at the Mobile Air Conditioning Society's convention at the Contemporary...

Of course now I am being a complete lunatic and looking at some of their schedules to see when they will be at the parks.

If I was a local, I would get out lol. You have so many people coming in for that time period that the area is insane and you don't want to deal with it. Heck, I live near Bristol Tennessee and it's bad enough during race weekend for me to want to get the heck out of dodge!

FWIW, I know the Florida Bar has it's annual Family Law CLE conference @ the GF on 1/25-1/26 and that will take over most of the GF rooms (including all conference room space) and a good part of the Poly...

I also had no trouble with ADRs and was able to get everything I wanted.
