A couple of comments here.
Both Sue and I read and post to other forums, not just this one. If we see a problem, although we do not have the authority in that forum as we have here, we still have the same authority as every on DisBoards has, to report problems with the post or the thread as a whole
For those who have not noticed, every post has, under the poster's name, a small white triangle with a red border and a vertical black bar inside. If you click on that symbol, a new screen will show up and you can write anything you want in that block. Then you press the <SEND> key at that block a message gets sent to all the moderators of that forum, showing that it came from you, what your comments are, the thread that you are commenting on, and, most important, the full content of the post you are reporting.
This also shows up in a special forum which may only be accessed by the moderators and webmasters.
At that point one of the recipients of the message will have the opportunity to review what has transpired. There are two courses of action possible, one affecting the reported post and the other the person doing the postng of the reported post.
One option is for the person to just note the problem and decide that it does not warrant action. As far as the post, it can be edited or deleted, and the entire thread can either be locked or even deleted. As far as the poster that has been reported, they can get a gentle reminder, an official warning, or an infraction which can range from points which could lead to automatic sanctions up to and including being banned from the Board.
So, anyway, especially on the larger forums, or those with only one moderator, if you see something that you think is out of line, just report it.
And, by the way, it is Board Policy that any action taken by a moderator or webmaster is not reported back to the complaintant, and more, important, that a person who receives adverse action is not told who reported them.
If you do later see that a reported post has been edited or is missing, you can tell that someone has paid attention to you and agrees with your assessment.
So, long story short, if you see what appears to be a problem on any post or thread anywhere on the board report it.
Mike
