on other threads?

Contrary to some opinions it seems they CAN'T bash ECVS on other threads.
The thread in question is now locked and a note from the MOD saying any further threads will be locked on sight.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Because this board is based in the USA, where we have freedom of speech? :confused3 There's no law saying we have to be nice and polite in our speech. That requires certain morals and respect, which some people find easy to leave behind when posting on the internet. This board is moderated, so posts can be deleted, etc, but basically, people can say whatever they want to say if it gets past the filters.

Because they can. It is called freedom of speech. People are allowed to express their opinions as long as it is done in polite and nonconfrontational way. Unfortunately those who start these for the most part have no experience or need for ECVs and are very opinionated

I think it's sad that people would do that. I thank my lucky stars that I don't need one. It won't kill people to wait a few extra minutes.

where are you finding ECV bashing? I havent seen a thread like that in a while

There's been a pretty steady stream on the Theme Park board the last couple of days. So much so one of the moderators said any thread mentioning ECV's would be closed.

Mostly just the age old problem lots of people with ESP and medical degrees, that can always tell whether or not people need their assistive devices.

i would love to have a real discussion at some point about invisible illness and invisible disability where people could ask questions and talk about living with invisible illness without bashing happening, but sadly i dont know if that would ever work

A couple of comments here.

Both Sue and I read and post to other forums, not just this one. If we see a problem, although we do not have the authority in that forum as we have here, we still have the same authority as every on DisBoards has, to report problems with the post or the thread as a whole

For those who have not noticed, every post has, under the poster's name, a small white triangle with a red border and a vertical black bar inside. If you click on that symbol, a new screen will show up and you can write anything you want in that block. Then you press the <SEND> key at that block a message gets sent to all the moderators of that forum, showing that it came from you, what your comments are, the thread that you are commenting on, and, most important, the full content of the post you are reporting.

This also shows up in a special forum which may only be accessed by the moderators and webmasters.

At that point one of the recipients of the message will have the opportunity to review what has transpired. There are two courses of action possible, one affecting the reported post and the other the person doing the postng of the reported post.

One option is for the person to just note the problem and decide that it does not warrant action. As far as the post, it can be edited or deleted, and the entire thread can either be locked or even deleted. As far as the poster that has been reported, they can get a gentle reminder, an official warning, or an infraction which can range from points which could lead to automatic sanctions up to and including being banned from the Board.

So, anyway, especially on the larger forums, or those with only one moderator, if you see something that you think is out of line, just report it.

And, by the way, it is Board Policy that any action taken by a moderator or webmaster is not reported back to the complaintant, and more, important, that a person who receives adverse action is not told who reported them.

If you do later see that a reported post has been edited or is missing, you can tell that someone has paid attention to you and agrees with your assessment.

So, long story short, if you see what appears to be a problem on any post or thread anywhere on the board report it.

Mike

Ooh i am 109th in line to talk to them people who bash ECVs. In some cases education works. For some people it is something to whine about and get self gratification and a pity party going. Sometimes it is a legitimate complaint like people who rent an ECV just to get special priviledges.

The only thing we can do is educate them.

The OP felt that the situation she brought up in this thread has now been resolved and the thread is being closed at the request of the original poster.
