Why is Eastern so much cheaper?

Hi All,

My family was planning on going on the 7 day Western cruise in November. However, if we went a week later on the Eastern we would save almost 500.00. Any ideas about why the price difference? I don't think my DH or DS (6) care too much either way about the ports of call, I just thought the Western sounded more interesting. Any suggestions one way or the other would be most appreciated.

One reason is since the Eastern has one less port-of-call, the ports charges will be less. And the prices do go up and down week to week regardless of where the ship is sailing.

I have heard the the normal price difference is only like $54 or something like that. The big price difference youre seeing is because of the dates.

The price can be the same - usually further out. What happens is that the "Western" fills up quicker. This is due to the fact the Magic only sailed the "Eastern" for a year or so before the "Western" was added. Those that sailed the Magic for 7-nights when it only did the "Eastern" route now are filling up the "Western" dates quicker. The ports may be more popular as well.

Which week are you talking about? I know we're sailing 11/27 on the Eastern and the week before us is Thanksgiving week. If it's the 11/21 sailing, that's probably why.
