Why is DVC busier in December?

I keep reading that DVC travel is very busy in early December, and that it's a very popular time for DVC travel. Why is that?

The first 2 weeks of December are in the lowest point season.
The parks & resorts are decorated for the holidays and all of the holiday events are going on.

IMO you get your best bang for your buck plus the weather is cooler and it's less crowded in early December.

Points are low. There are lots of sadists who want to be there when they film the Christmas parade. The DVC annual member meeting is held in early December. Christmas parties are going on in the MK. The parks and resorts are decorated for the holidays including a full sized gingerbread house in the GF, chocolate carousel in BC (or is it BW). It's not hot.

Well, that all makes perfect sense! We are going December 17-24 next year, and I was getting nervous about being able to get what I wanted at 11 months. Thanks everyone!!

When the points are low, you can also plan a longer stay. December is a nice time to visit, especially if you can't take the summer heat. We've visited in December when it was quite cold and also when temps were in the 70's.

We love December and getting more bang for your buck as Bill said is always nice. Christmas is my favorite time of year and there is nothing better than being at Disney!!

The 3rd week of December seems to be a little easier than the others, so hopefully it works well for you.

I'll add that a lot of DVCers aren't restricted to school schedules - they'll either pull their kids out, their kids are adults or they don't have them, or they homeschool. And DVCers are connoisseurs of good weather, reasonable crowds and good point value. Early December is one of the best times for all three of those - plus airfare is often cheap.

When we first purchased back in 1999 it was the last two weeks in December that were really busy. In fact you had to enter a lottery in order to see if you could even make a reservation during those weeks.
