Why is Brown Derby a 2 credit restaurant?

I was perusing the menus on allears and looked at the prices at this restuarant. I wonder why it costs 2 credits when the prices are not significantly higher than other TS restaurants like other Signature restaurants are. Any thoughts?

I made my ADRs this morning. CP is already filling up for Feb!

Mama Melrose's prices range from $12 to $23
Brown Derby's prices range from $18 to $29
Flying Fish's prices range from $23 to $38

So Brown Derby's prices are definitely higher than the typical 1TS restaurant.

Personally, I wouldn't spend 2 credits on it. The prices may be high, but it's also inside a park (probably part of the reason...location, location, location). IMO, you can get better quality at a 1 credit place like Kona Cafe.

LeCellier is right up there with the Brown Derby but only 1 credit. Actually, our whole meal last year at Brown Derby was $11 more than LeCellier. Brown Derby is good but not worth losing a credit over. I guess they have to draw the line somewhere though.

My thought is that Brown Derby is a good place to pay out of pocket. Not because it's not worth of being a signature restaurant, but because it's the least expensive of the signature restaurants.

DH and I are going to the Brown Derby but won't be using up 4TS, its not worth it when their prices are no different to Kona Cafe, Le Cellier, Wolfgang Puck Cafe and Coral Reef. It must be because of its location.

We will be using 2TS for one full 3 course meal and then we'll pay out of pocket for one main course. Or, we might just pay out of pocket for the whole thing if we don't fancy an appetiser that day.

But I still think its a nice restaurant and i'm looking forward to our lunch there in September :cool1:

I like the idea that they're designating at least one park restaurant in this manner.

I wouldn't be surprised, though, if either Chefs de France, Coral Reef, or Le Cellier get reclassified as 2TS.

Although Brown Derby was good, I would not spend the extra credit for it. I don't think it is worth it. Really. The food was good; not fantastic. The service was ok; not that good!
This is only my one experience, I'm sure there are differing opinions out there, but the night we went.......certainly not worth 2 credits.

I'm guessing it's 2TS credits just because it's in MGM, and there are no other half-way decent TS restaurants in that park. If it was 1TS credit, no one on DDP would eat at Sci-Fi or Prime Time. Plus I'd don't think the seating capacity at Brown Derby is that big in comparison to other sit downs.

Yeah, but

Le Cellier's prices range from $16 to $28
Kona is $15 to $25
Le Chefs $24 to $29
9 Dragons $18 to 25
Marrakesh $22 to 30

Definitely still within range to be a 1 TS credit.

Good point. I started this thread thinking in the back of my mind "what if they downgraded it." Of course, now you point that out, it just might go that way.

I wonder if redesignating point values is part of why it's taking the 2007 DDP so long to come out. :confused3

Bicker, I have to agree. If Brown Derby is 2 TS, then Chefs de France should be the same.

At one point, I believe LeCellier was 2 credits. The 1 credit price now is the best deal in Disney.

Or, instead, the 1TS restaurants you listed should actually be 2TS.

All three are incredibly great deals.

When did Coral Reef get reclassified to 1 credit?? I noticed it when I booked my trip about a month ago and I think that's awesome! What a great deal!
