do we need to hang up a sign that says "please put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher"? That is like hanging a sign in the bathroom that says, please flush the toilet after your done.:sad2:

Probably for the same reason that I had to post a sign on the fridge which read, "Do not eat food that does not belong to you."

Some people just act like children.

Related to the latter, I'm tempted to bring some pet training pads in and lay them on the floor of the rest room. :eww:

The funny thing is the ones that the sign is really for won't read or pay attention to it anyway. :lmao:

these signs are needed because SO many people out there think that rules don't apply to them. and as the PP pointed out, the ones who need to read it are the ones who are least likely to, and if they do, they'll still disregard it, because they're special and rules don't apply to them.

Do we work in the same office? :lmao: Yep, we have that sign in the break room at work.

So many people these days simply did not learn the disciplines we used to take for granted. I think a lot of that is a lack of reinforcement growing up (thank you Dr. Benjamin Spock).

Funny - I have found that the major offender's are the older men who think that the women are supposed to put the dishes in the washer for them.

You mean they're not? :scared1:

I think everyone, male and female, should clean up after themselves. That's a discipline that can help everyone be neater. :thumbsup2

We actually have that sign on the back of all our bathroom stall doors at work. We also have a sign over our trash can in the bathroom saying not to put cigarette butts in the trash because it will start a fire, and yes, someone has actually started a bathroom fire this way.... several times. :headache:

Our company had a male employee who had to be "spoken to" because he not only didn't put the seat down when he was done, but he didn't flush either! The ladies weren't happy about the seat but we threw a collective hissy fit over the unflushed toilet!

We also have several people who do not believe it is their job to replace the paper towel roll or do not know how to replace the toilet paper roll, despite several live demonstrations at monthly staff meeting!

In my office the common denominator is being under age 30. Gender is not an issue. I wondered if it was because mom always picked after them at home.
But looking at their work ethic, it's because their attitude is "that's not my job". These are the same folks who refuse to add paper to the copier, replace an empty bottle at the water cooler, and when paper jams in a printer, they call IT instead of just taking 15 seconds to unjam it.
They are also the folks who keep getting calls at work from their landlord, or credit company, or auto lender because the "forgot" to send in that month's check.

I wish I had put up a sign that read "Do not use the $120 Henckels knife to open a can". The knife had been in the kitchen at the office for less than a week when I saw that the tip was bent over at a 90 degree angle. :sad2:

Our breakroom / kitchen has the following sign...

Your mother doesn't work here anymore. Please clean up your own mess

sad, but true. People would just leave crap all over the place and expect "someone" to come along and clean up after them.

I don't like to pool people but I have make a point about this.

I worked at a radio station for YEARS when they took over another station that specialized in Rock music. The staff consisted of 20 - 30 yo males. They destroyed our kitchen in a week's time and thank GOD I didn't have to use the men's bathroom but there were NUMEROUS complaints.

The signs came up and we were appalled that it included all of the people who had been there neatly running the place for YEARS. The GM said he couldn't point out specific people...:rolleyes1

Now I work in an office of 20 WOMEN only, ages 23 - 55. The kitchen area is SPOTLESS. One of the ladies will not leave until she checks everything and makes sure there are no issues for those who come in early. Sorry, I love it! :thumbsup2

We have resorted to putting up a sign that states if you don't wash your dishes they will be thrown away. And still people don't wash them. And every so often someone else comes in and tosses them into the trash.

I started in radio. We would have killed for a kitchen, dirty or not. Our building was a rat infested quonset hut that was scheduled for demolition in 1950. They finally tore it down 8 years ago!!!

We have a sign in the breakroom that says not to use half packets of coffee, hot chocolate, suga, etc, to keep the bug and rodent population away and yet I still find half used hoy chocolate packets all the time. I understand conserving, and all about not wasting, but I don't want your half used packet. If you don't want to throw it away, take it back to your desk and use it next time you want some.

And for a long time, there was a sign in the bathroom about making sure your toilet completely flushed since they didn't always. There were a few nasty incidents in the bathroom with people not flushing or making sure everything went down.

I don't understand it either. common sense would dictate to read the signs and follow them.

I work in an office and would love to have one of those 'ALL employess must was their hands before returning to work' signs in our bathrooms. It's really gross. Of course I don't use the mens room but it seems to be the older woman in our office, that for some reason don't think they need to wash their hands I don't get it. :confused3 I could go on forever about all the lack of common sense in my office.

YES!!! We have that too, in our office. It drives me bonkers! And what kills me is we have the toilet paper holder that you just slide the toilet paper roll onto one end of it - it couldn't be any easier!!

With an equal passion, I hate when there is about 1/4 of a square left on the roll and the last person didn't change it before they left. :headache: Come on, people?! No one is going to be able to use that tiny piece, throw out the roll and put on a new one!! :headache:
