Just flew home last night from MCO to DTW via MDW. We had a mechanical delay at MCO which prevented our flight from getting out on time. By the time we landed at MDW, our connecting flight was supposed to be taking off.
Bless SWA! They held the flight back to DTW for us and we made it back to DTW on time. I have flown the legacy airlnes and have missed many a connection because they don't wait.

Only NON issue for me was both DH and I had to take seats wherever they were available but we sure didn't care!!! So those that have connections with A boarding passes, keep that in mind if you get in late that you WILL most likely be separated from your party!

Happy flyin!!!

I am so glad that your trip home worked out for you and that SWA was working for their customers.

We are flying this summer to Seattle from Detroit and we have a connection in Chicago - this is our first time flying with a connection and I was a little uncertain about it (especially with 4 kids in tow!) But your story has relieved some of that stress!

Also - how short of a flight is it from Detroit - Chicago? Our flight times say 10:40 departure, 10:45 arrival! Is it actually 5 minutes? I know it is not a great distance, but 5 minutes??

chasbos,

I believe you'll be crossing time zones and that's why it appears your flight is only 5 minutes.

MDW is in the Central Time Zone, so you will actually be in the air just about 40 minutes. Gate to gate the time is just under an hour. The FAs take drink orders before take off and when you get your drink, chug it, because they will be collecting the trash for landing. Try and get a seat on the pilot's left side so you can see the skyline of Chicago upon take off and fly over Lake Michigan.

Enjoy!!!!

I had never thought of the changing time zones! Thanks for the info.

I will try to get the good scenic seats too!

Glad things worked out for you, but I'll bet the passengers sitting in that plane waiting for you weren't exactly "luving" SWA!

SWA still managed to get us to DTW ON TIME! So it was a wash...
