Why go to Hollywood Studios now?

I wouldn't pay more than $10 for a ticket to go to DHS, but since I've an annual pass I'm find wandering around the park looking for something to do.

Likewise I wouldn't pay $100 for any park in Orlando. But your right about AP-then it becomes a great evening for us, as would a hopper.

Then again, if I had a 6 day pass, I would still pay $10 for the 7th day (or whatever it is) and go to DHS. Its just a hopper makes way more sense.

We'll be headed to WDW in a few weeks and I expect it'll be a must-do, at least for Star Tours.

Our problem is time. We only have about a week normally and there's much we wish to do in the Orlando area. Time can become more valuable than money at times.

ToT is a must for me every time, even if I have to ride it alone (due to someone needing to watch DS)

And seeing this time I'm staying at the Dolphin, it will just be a hop, skip and a jump away yay...

I still don't understand the hatred people have for this place. Why go? For us, let's see: Beauty & the Beast, Frozen Sing a Long, Little Mermaid, Disney Jr, Indiana Jones, Star Tours, SWLB, Fantasmic, Fireworks, Sci-Fi drive in theatre, TSMM. Still a full day park.

HS is my favorite park. Yes, it is in transition now but there is still a lot to do there. Yesterday, we took a family of 5 to WDW, first visit and only had one day available. We hustled through all four parks, hitting highlights and ended at HS. When asked what was their favorite park? HS!! They LOVED the Star Wars offerings, got pictures with Darth, Chewie and a Jawa, got to see two shows (Indy and LMA), rode Star Tours & RNRC, all this in the span of just a few hours. The Star Wars fireworks were a big hit also. Just seeing their faces light up at all the Star Wars things brought a smile to my face. BTW, the family consists of three girls, Star Wars is for everyone! Love HS and will keep going there through construction, it holds a special place in my heart!

DHS my family's favorite park! We are there often and never get tired of it. Over all the years we've had an AP, I can count on one hand the times we went to LMA, the P&F and Cars M&G; so we won't really miss those. The firework show alone, is amazing and worth a trip to the park. To skip it because of construction would be a mistake imho. The streetmosphere shows and characters are so much fun. We make it a point to stop and watch. My son especially likes going up to the streetmosphere character dressed as security who carries a banana. He loves to ask him if he's seen any monkey business. We don't ride R&R or ToT and we still find plenty to do. There is only one thing I will miss with the current construction closures, that is Watto's Grotto! Make that 2 things, SWW will be sorely missed though I look forward to the new Star Wars Land!!

I can see that. Would I throw down $100 each if I had one day a year for parks at Orlando-well maybe MK but that's it.

I agree that DHS is a half day (even now worth a half day), but so is Ak and EPCOT IMO. So with hopping we can do 2 half day parks in one day. AK in the AM and DHS in the PM, DHS in the AM and EPCOT in the PM etc. FP+ makes it work even better for us. The 4 parks could have been consolidated into 2 parks (like DL/DCA and US/IOA/HP) but I prefer separation for numerous reasons with hopping being one of them, 4 night shows being another.

If you are either a local AP holder or have a multi-day ticket and a long enough vacation to dedicate at least one full day to each park then I see no reason to skip DHS as you are not technically playing a full-price 1-day ticket for admission. IMHO even though a good chunk of the park is closed, TGMR is still one of my favorite WDW attractions and Brown Derby is one of my favorite restaurants at WDW, for these two reasons alone I will keep coming back to DHS, I also enjoy browsing through the nice shops along Sunset Blvd and every once in a while will even stay for Fantasmic when I start feeling overdue :)

Will add "if you have a hopper" as well. May as well go a half day or 2 or 3. Then the other half somewhere else-have even done US and DHS with FP+ that night-awesome.

Have gone many nights just to Fantasmic.

We spent and entire day at DHS earlier this month. We really enjoyed it, and even with the closings, there is still a lot to do.

It was a nice change of pace from MK. Jedi Training, Star Tours, Frozen Sing Along, TSM, Muppets 3D capped with the Star Wars fireworks and (at the time) the Osborne Lights - it was a great time.

Not a full day park. Not even close.
Disney has basically admitted as much by announcing all the plans for the park.

The problem is that the rides that are still there, are the best ones in all of Disney for us. If we didn't buy park hoppers we probably wouldn't go. It's definitely a half day park for us. But I can't imagine going to Disney and skipping Rockin Rollercoaster, Toy Story, or Tower of Terror. We also love Star Wars ride and the Great Movie ride. The shops are also fun and it's a great place to just take in the scenery. We also like the restaurants. We have been to Mama Melrose and 50s Prime Time and they both were fun. Trying sci-fi dine in this next trip :). But probably will leave around 1:00 and park hop later.

Agreed. Won't be then (when done) either IMO.

The only Orlando park we could spend a whole day at is MK, and we never do. Never will actually. No chance of 12 hours straight at US or IOA or EPCOT or AK. Even when AK is done-we will hop there late afternoon through the evening. The am will have been DHS or MK, lunch at the pool.

Now if they eliminate hopping and AP hopping-then I totally can see them adding the 4th night show and expanding each park enough to cover the entire day. We would then open a park without FP+, take a break at the resort, go back into the same park for the evening with FP+.

Or do our other area activities in the AM (fish, golf, beach, US etc) and just go in a park for the evening show and FP+.

Yep same, except reverse (and we have AP instead) we do at least 2 evenings there. FP+ with TSM/TOT and ST, usually B&B and Frozen is a new fave, then Fantasmic and the Launch Bay and Star Wars fireworks. The other night is RNR/TOT/ST and VOTLM and Fantasmic and S Wars Fireworks.

Both evenings follow great mornings and afternoons doing other activities or parks. What ever we wake up and feel like doing.
