Why don't we do it in our sleeves?

I have done this for years. DH would make fun of me when I did it. Then I pointed out that I did not contaminate my hands and he now does it too.

I always sneeze and cough into my arm and have TRIED to teach my kids this. :thumbsup2

I have for years either coughed into my arms or my more favorite is i just cough or sneeze into my shirt, i know it sound weird but i hate that when people "cover" their mouths and then dont wash their hands, you are still spreading stuff, and people at work wonder why i am constantly spraying lysol. But yes this should be the way its done so as to not touch and contaminate other things along the way.

The school nurse always discussed this with my first graders. I passed this habit on to my kids.

That is how I do it and even taught my toddlers to do that when I was teaching. Explained it to the parents too. My kids all do this unless they have time to grab two kleenexs first. (Has to be two, one is just not thick enough to catch a sneeze all the time. And yes, we go through a lot of tissue!)

I've taught my kids to cough or sneeze into the crook of their elbow - nothing touches that! They don't always remember (they're young) but we work on it all the time. They certainly can explain to me WHY we do it that way, which helps them to remember it a fair bit of the time.

I ALWAYS cough and sneeze into my elbow. My mom taught me that coughing in your hand was disgusting and it has stuck ever since.

I started doing that a few years ago, especially at work. This way I can finish whatever task I'm doing (typing, answering phones, distributing mail, greeting visitors, etc).

My sister (a middle school teacher) just taught me this trick last summer when she had a cold at WDW. I am trying to get used to it (but I tend to keep tissues in my pockets all winter for sneezing into).

I sneeze into my shirt. Looks strange, but it's effective. Nothing like a cold sneeze mist down the shirt...it will sure wake you up if the sneeze didnt'!!

This is so funny. I'm a school nurse and teach health to the 7th grade. I had them watch this video in class just before Thanksgiving. (Last day of classes and they were bouncing off the walls) Anyway they loved it. Their homework was to go home and show the video to someone else - a parent, sibling, friend... I can't tell you how many moms have told me they have seen the video!

I've done this since I worked in food service, but I must admit that I don't do it this way all the time.

I was always taught to sneeze into my hands then wash them, but that was waaaay too gross for me. I started on my own to sneeze into my elbow and it's habit now, but DMom says it's disgusting.
