Why don't they...

According to rteetz in his rumor tracking thread, transportation was being worked on between AKL and park, but it wasn't a gondola. This rumor is about 2 years old. it would be nice to have something other then a bus. we'll see.

I do think AKL to DAK is possible / could potentially happen via Skyliner. Depending, of course, how operation of the Skyliner goes -- and what happens to resort occupancy for those on the Skyliner path, etc.

There's already direct transportation between AKL/AKV and DAK.
I suppose it should say a premium transportation option. (Boat/monorail/something). Before AKL, that used to be a Deluxe marketing point.

That would be a big cost added on to annual fees for AKV owners. They are already paying for upkeep of the animals and savannas.

Unfortunately it's probably way down their list as they have little incentive to do so. With AKV already sold out they don't need build the Skyliner to sell the DVC units there. Also with he hotel being smaller now because of the conversion of Jambo they will hit the occupancy rate they want much easier. Though if they decide to do a Skyliner it could be possible if they connect All Stars with CSR to AK then it makes sense to just round out with AKL.

The big thing is they would not want to run Skyliner over animal holding areas. Too big an issue for evac.

At one time there was a plan to build a walkway from the Animal Kingdom lodge to The Animal Kingdom park. I think around the time DVC was looking at expanding to the lodge the idea went away.

You are probably right that it's way down on the list. That said, if they find they are able to increase the price of AOA/POP/CSR and continue to get good/great occupancies, it might move up the list. I would expect that AKL cash room prices would increase a good deal with the addition of the skyliner (especially since AKL is currently the cheapest deluxe by quite a bit). And as pointed out above, Disney has AKV owners that can swallow the bulk cost of maintenance via MFs.

Sorry to bump, but it looks like the walkway from GF to MK is back on the table again. A permit was filed recently with the project name "GRAND FLORIDIAN TO MK WALKWAY". After hours of trying to decode their naming convention, I think it's referring to a walkway being built from Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom.

It might just be the renovation of the pathway from MK towards GF that has all the pavers on it. It ends just before the break where the boats come out for the water parade. They are removing all the pavers, so this might just be upgrading the existing space.

Could be.. however the permit specifically mentions "dewatering". Would seem to suggest something to do with where the path needs to cross the water.

But I know they are doing a lot of work in that area on the MK side, so it could be a widening of the paved portion already existing.

That would be sooooooooooooooooooo nice! I'll cross my fingers it's actually happening. All they really need to do is figure out different storage for the EWP. Of course with Disney these days they also might end it. :(
