Why don't people like the Biergarten?

We (2 adults, 2 teens) love the Biergarten. :cloud9:

Good food. Excellent desserts. Great ambiance and entertainment. :sunny:

I think we are going to try it for our upcoming trip. I have been only once (probably 13 yrs ago). DH has never been. For me, it is the prospect of having to sit by strangers. We have DS now and we think the entertainment will be alot of fun for him so we are willing to give it a try. Also, while I am 50% German and raised on alot of German food (much of which I am not crazy about), I am not sure I am crazy about eating German food in August. We'll see...

We couldn't decide where to eat in Epcot and finally chose the Biergarten. Being from Wisconsin (big Germanic heritage) and having travelled to Germany, we know we'll eat German food. Sharing tables with others is a nice way to force you to meet others, for better or for worse. 9 times out of 10 it ends up being for the better!

My husband and I loved it. My husband is even an introvert and he didn't mind sitting with other people, of course they were nice people and we saw one woman who was solo at our table again on a different night at a different park. We enjoyed the entertainment and the food. We both have german in our backgrounds and since I've been married to my husband I've found that saurkraut and brats are one of his favorite so I make it often. One of the reasons we are together is because my husband enjoys different taste experiences. So, EPCOT is one of our favorite parks for all of the varied food choices. Love the tangarine cafe in Morrocco. My 3 and 5 year old can say and often eat couscous. :)

The only fried things I recall on the menu are the chicken schnitzel and the chicken tenders, which can easily be avoided. The roast pork, roast chicken, and broiled fish don't seem very heavy at all. The salads are also rather light, IMO.

Well it was several years ago so things could have changed. I just remember grease, fat and grease on the buffet. So maybe because of the grease and fat I'm thinking fried. IMO it was just gross whatever it was.

What kind of German bier hall wouldn't play the chicken dance? :confused3

Ummm...any one with a little self-respect?? A good polka  is one thing; however, the chicken dance is just WRONG on so many levels, lol.

One of our favorite restaurants and the show and dancing make it even a greater experience...

However, I do agree that seating with random others can run the risk of impacting your meal and/or experience. I wish they wouldn't do that no matter how "authentic" it is. I'd rather focus on my family and not make small talk with strangers....

I guess I should qualify this...I HAVE met some friends in Epcot (not necessarily at Biergarten) whom I became lifelong friends with. In our experiences at Biergarten we have met fine folks who we enjoyed dining with. However, you DO run the risk of having a bad experience...so it really depends. I would imagine that most have good experiences with their "tablemates".

DH and I have been dining at World Showcase since it opened. The *only* place we haven't dined is in Germany. We keep saying each trip that this will be the time we'll do it. Nope...just can't get past the smell of the German food. Turns both our stomachs! :crazy2:

It's on our to do list every visit. The seemed to have Americanized the food over the years, not a bad thing. You can eat as heartily or as lightly as you want. The entertainment is always enjoyable, and the service is usually ok to good.
