With all the threads on frustration getting a BG and huge lines why doesn’t Disney open the park at 7 or 7:30?
ROTR appears to be break down 3 x per time, so they should accommodate an earlier opening time to make up for the lost time they can control.
Seems like an easy accommodation to improve the park experience.

I hate to sound so negatively towards Disney about this. But its simply this.

Cost.

Why would they open earlier? Obviously we view they should to help with crowds. Im sure they view it as they will have JUST as many people there whether they open at 7 or 9. So why open he parks two hours earlier if the same people are going to be there.

Dont get me wrong. I love Disney. Im sure everyone here loves Disney. And Disney does a GREAT job at giving that magical experience. But at the end of the day it all comes down to cost/money for them. If they felt it would net them more money to open earlier i guarantee you those gates would open earlier.

A lot of speculation is that they need a lot of maintenance time nightly to keep the ride going. Some say up to 12 hours. It's the same as "Why don't they run the ride till park closing"

It doesn't make a lick of sense. They were open at 6am when GE opened and it cost them. Now they won't budge. Silly.

^It's because Rise wouldn't be ready at 6am. It would be delayed open everyday for an hour, thus cancelling boarding groups. 7am wasn't bad, but I think it comes down to money. If the park is busier then expected, the park hours extend.

I would be curious to know how much extra $ it costs disney to open an hour earlier..
I guess staff, transportation and the physical running of the ride would be expesive, but I wonder if that would be offset with food sales/ merchandise etc by having people in the parks an extra hour.

I was there at the end of January and they were opening at 7am.
Once February started, it switched to 8am.

But they didn't extend them the last 2 weeks when every ride had triple digit waits. You open at 6am, you make it clear Rise won't open until 7am, you still spread out crowds.

Could they open the park early and have everything but ROTR ope?. Just because ROTR isn't open until 8 am doesn't mean the rest of the rides couldn't be? Just wondering. If guest could get there at 6 am and get a few rides done with short waits that would be fabulous. Then at 8 am guests join boarding groups. If you're on a ride when that happens you'd be out of luck, but I bet a lot of people would be willing to run that risk. I know I would. I definitely want to ride ROTR but not at the expense of super long waits for all the other rides.

Lots of complaints about the 8am openings but soon openings are moving to 9am AND during spring break, one of the busiest times of the year. I was thinking hours would definitely be extended but now with Disney losing revenue due to the Asian parks being closed and how hard corona virus has hit the cruise industry, I am beginning to think the 9 am openings might stay.

Earlier this week Disney extended DHS openings to 8am through 4/4. Disney has only been moving up the opening times for DHS a few weeks out in small small chunks every couple of weeks. Too early to call that they are done moving times earlier or not.
