Why Doesn't Disney Match Competitor Pricing?

On more than one occasion I have found better pricing by booking somewhere other than directly with Disney. Each time I have asked if they (Disney) would match the price I found elsewhere, and the answer is always the same - No. I usually end up cancelling whatever reservation I directly booked with WDTC and go with whoever I was able to get the best price from. Heck, even retail stores honor pricing on products sold elsewhere. I realize in the end they still get my money, but why wouldn't Disney want to keep my business by allowing me to directly book with them at a price found elsewhere?

I agree with what you are saying...but the truth to the answer is...They dont have to !!!

Because, unlike retail stores, Disney gives these "other outlets" the right to book those rooms. They're no longer in Disney's inventory. They only offer a certain number of rooms at those discounted prices, and they're already exclusively offered through the other places.

Sears will match Kmart's price, but Sears doesn't tell Kmart that they can sell part of Sears' inventory.

I never thought of it that way, but that makes complete sense. I always wondered about that.

I had to laugh when I read this...you do know that Sears OWNS KMart right? LOL

So a better example may be Walmart matching Target, sorry couldn't resist :)

Apparently one cannot delete a reply even though it says edit/delete, oh well...

Maybe that's why the names came to me together! :rotfl:

But even under the same corporate umbrella, they still maintain separate inventories and don't sell each other's!
