that have different point values. There are different views at that resort- and for me to use the same points to get a pool view vs. a woods view room seems a little off to me.

Does anyone know if they've ever entertained the idea of catagorizing the views at BCV's???

That was the first mistake DVC made when they implemented different room categories at BWV. Then again at AKV and BLT. It's much easier to get a villa when all the room categories are the same.

Since none of the views at BCV are that great, there really isn't any need to offer different room categories.

If they are going to do it, though, they need to do it prior to offering the complex for sale.

I'm just curious-which of those two (pool view or woods view) do you think should be worth more points? If you want to the pool view to be more, I'd be all for it since I love the woods view. Also, is BCV acknowledging that they have a woods view now? The last several times I've tried to request it, MS tells me that they don't have a woods view. I tried requesting "overlooking trees", but they wouldn't take that either!

Well....... I don't know that they have a "woods view" or not, but I have requested "pool view" before and never had anyone tell me there isn't a pool view. So..... that leads me to think they do have views per se.

Deb & Bill- I have to agree with you on what you said. They really did make a mistake when they decided to catagorize some resort rooms and not others.

I just find it interesting that rooms can go for as little as 8 pts/day at AKV for a value room- and that you can get a concierge rooms for 13 pts/day. I use 13 points/day on any given (value season) day in a "No great view" kind of room at BCV, but I don't get concierge with it.

I love BCV, but I think the views were the last thing they considered when they built it and priced it. They knew the views were sacrificed and most likely used the location and attachment to Y&B to establish point values.

For 13 points you can walk to Epcot and HS and be attached to a Deluxe resort with an awesome pool. With either a view of a cement pond or a woods view with a road going thru it.

I prefer the pool view, because I am away from the road noise when Im on my patio. THe furthest rooms from the road (in the "T") are frustrating, because now your view of the fireworks is blocked by the building. So I dont want road noise and I dont want obstructed firework view, so I'd rather have pool view and face the quieter side of the resort.

BCV has alot to offer, but imo great views is not one of them. We spend most of our time on the resort side and less time in our room as a result. At SSR we enjoy our villa and view more.

I agree. I really do love the BCV's- and pool view is my preferred view as well. I guess we're trading view for location.

I was actually disappointed they made a "Near Hospitality House" category at OKW, using the same number of points to guarantee a location within the resort. It kind of defeats the purpose of the "room ready" check-in system for OKW.

Would you have rather had them up the # of points for those rooms??

But those concierge rooms have almost no view at all except for the roof. And those value rooms are really tiny.

th value rooms would be ok for just DH and I- pour kids are all grown up and no longer live wih us, so we usually take a few trips down to WDW a year just by ourselves.

And.... really. Really?? the concierge rooms have bad views?

I don't see a need for the category, period. Whether they cost the same, or more points, than the rest of the resort.

You see, when location was just a request, if I arrived early, and a room was ready, we took it. rarely were we in the "Near HH" category, but occasionally there was a room ready there, and nowhere else in the resort. Now, if I arrive early, and there is a room ready in the Near HH building, it will be held for someone, even if they don't arrive until 11pm, while I may have to wait until after 4 to get a room, even though the near HH room is cleaned and ready.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh... I see!

I guess not having room requests is a much simpler way (for he resort- and sometimes the guests as well)

I kinda like the idea of having catagories though- at least if I do get there at 11pm, I'll have what i consider a decent location for my room. I'm usually willing to wait for the room I want to be available though- even if there are other rooms that are ready when I get there.

We love the BC and agree that it has a lot to offer but the views are not why you stay there. I also agree the different views/points are a pain. I called about MS yesterday and was offered a room at BLT with a lake view, I decided to pass and do a little more research. I checked online and discovered the number of views/room options there are. :scared1: Not really conducive to a person who has a tough time making decisions!

I think categorizing the rooms at some resorts makes DVC more sellable. For example, I bought at BWV specifically for the boardwalk view. I have a reservation for AKV for June for savannah view, I would not want a parking lot view, I want to see the animals when I get up in the morning and am willing to pay more points to guarantee it. With BCV or VWL, I don't think there's a huge difference between the different views and they don't have alot of rooms so it may not have been practical to split them out.
