Silky's too..........ours has always had gas, no matter what kind of food he eats. The day DH brought him to the vet when we first got him, he almost crashed the car, it was so bad.We don't change his food often, and he never gets people food. It doesn't seem to matter, always has gas,
When he gets gassy, (even in his sleep) he jumps up, and smells the air, and looks around as if looking for the culprit, and then settles down again.

My mini-dachshund gets terrible gas from rawhide - we NEVER give her rawhide of any kind anymore.

She will pass gass and will jump up like a bolt of lightning ran through her and then she will look for it like it was something that attacked her. It is the funniest thing. One day she was sleeping in the recliner and she passed gas, I'm telling you this dog jumped so high and shot out of that chair so fast and then went back to look for her "offender". I've heard of being afraid of your own shadow but my dog is afraid of her own gassiness.

Our old golden Max had gotten up to 116 pounds before the vet told us to get him on a diet. We gave him 2 cups of food daily and that's it. He was down to 85 pounds within a year. A combination of diet and thyroid meds reduced his weight and his "exhaust" output

We had the same problem with our lab Cody. Gas all day, all night. We switched from Iams to Dog Chow. The gas is gone. Thank god. That is a horrible smell
