Why does the MK area have such terrible restaurants?

Whispering Canyon Cafe and Crystal Palace are the only that look good.

'Ohana doesn't look too good and neither does Chef Mickey's. I hear alot of reccomedations for these two yet they sound disgusting.
What else would you reccomend in the MK area?

Kona Cafe, Grand Floridian Cafe, Concourse Steakhouse.

Maggie

what exactly is the criteria for you?
Everyone's opinion is so different. Twelve people could tell you to try somewhere and lo and behold you'd hate it.
If it appeals to you, go.
If not, don't bother.

Sorry, but this is not a good way to start a thread and get helpful responses. Most people enjoy both of those restaurants very much. What is it that does not appeal to you? Chef Mickey's has such a large variety of food I can't imagine you couldn't find something you would like. You might word your request a little more subtly and/or say what you are looking for exactly in a restaurant to invite more helpful advice. Just my first reaction....

Ohana's is nasty We once one for dinner and once for breakfast. Not sure if we would go back for either, even if we stay at the Poly again.
My wife didn't love Chef Mickey's too much-my 6 year old thought it was ok.
Me and my 3 year old did not eat at Chef Mickey's.
We all liked Kona for breakfast (ate their twice), and we all liked Kona for dinner (I ate dinner there 3 times).
We all liked 1900 Park Fare (at GF) for dinner. We ate there twice and really liked it as well.
We also liked at Gasparilla (not sure about spelling) at GF.
We also liked the Pinochhio Haus (not sure about spelling) at MK. The paninis were good.

Hope this helps.

Actually Ohana's is great! We love it.. You should try it if you havent already.. The wontons, wings, potatoes and all that grilled meat and wonderful.. So is dessert..

IMO. Big time!
I believe we heard you the first time..lol Sorry you had a bad experience.. Our family enjoys it as well as many, many other families on this board.

Excuse me, your royal highness.
Thanks for your concern, but we did not have a bad experience-we just had really bad food.

Our favorite restaurants are on the monorail loop. :thumbsup2

Have you tried Victoria & Albert's, Citricos, Narcoosee's and the Grand Floridian Cafe at the GF? How about California Grill at the Contemporary? And Kona at the Polynesian. These are our favorites and range from very good to exceptional. :thumbsup2

At the MK, we like Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch and until this last trip the Plaza for lunch or a light dinner.

I sometimes struggle with finding MK restaurants as well. The only one I've really liked overall would be Liberty Tree Tavern, the colonial fare was a lot of fun. I've enjoyed Cinderella's for its theming, as well as Ohana for both food and ambience. I've also heard great things about California Grill.

Pardon my mistake..Is it me or are you just being rude?

Oh, I forgot Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge. Off the monorail loop but another favorite of many in our family. :thumbsup2

My problem is that EVERYTHING sounds good. I want to go to them all and experience as much as we can. I've never been to any of these restaurants but will be trying out several on our trip. As far as I am concerned, any meal that I'm not cooking or cleaning up after is a great meal. :rotfl: You do have to take reviews with a grain of salt since nobody's tastes are the same....If you go in expecting a bad experience, guess what you will have?

Let's remember to play nice, everyone. :grouphug:

Let's get this thread back on track to help the OP.

Kona is the best!

The Plaza at MK is nice.

1900 Park Fair is very nice for a character buffet

I'm looking forward to trying Narcoossee's, too.

We ate at 'Ohana, and it wasn't our favorite meal of the trip, but it was certainly not terrible. There was definitely a lot of food, and the side dishes were quite good. The meat tended to be a bit tough and cool by the time it got to our table, but we loved the atmosphere, and we are glad we tried it.

It amazes me how hateful people can become on such a benign thread. bdklein, i hope that perhaps you are just having a bad evening, and are not this angry in general. your comments to bluejasmine were uncalled for.

To OP:

It really depends what you are looking for. 3 restaurants that our family loves:

Artist point - Very nice, not on the loop - but close, fancy, but not V&A fancy, our fav Disney restaurant.

Kona Cafe - This place has so much to choose from, great food, love b/fast here, you can't go wong.

Concourse Steakhouse - Often overlooked, not as fancy as AP, but a great meal with the monorail overhead
