Why does my lab always have to lay in doorways?!

I spend all day stepping over my dog. It's so annoying - she is like a toddler who clings to your leg. She can't stand to be away from me. Anywhere I settle for a little while, there she is, looking up at me with those eyes.

Good thing she is universally adored and spoiled!!!:rotfl:

Our cats do that too. And in the dark! So you walk into a room and step on them and THEY get ticked off!

Probably because he/she can see everything that's going on and keep better tabs on his/her people from doorways.

My mutt inevitably sleeps somewhere between my bed and the en suite bathroom door. Never in the same place, though, and he's pitch black so he's completely invisible in the dark. At least once a night I end up either stepping on him or kicking him! Personally, I think he has a masochistic streak. ;)

Next time I'm getting myself a nice light-coloured dog! :rotfl:

I feel for you. My cat Cleo likes to walk in front of you and then randomly lay down. I have stepped on her and tripped on her more times than I can count.

My dogs get so tired on weekends, when I'm home. I move from room to room. They have to follow. As soon as they settle down, I move again. I swear one of them (the lazy one) has given me the evil eye!!!:lmao:

Both of my dogs would just sleep wherever there was a nice cool breeze and where they could keep track of us. I used to get upset when they would be under feet but since losing one of the dogs last August to cancer, I am just happy to see the other one wherever she may be. At her age, she's earned a little leeway when it comes to where she lays.

The cat, however, is a different story!:rotfl2:

My lab sleeps on top of the vent in the kitchen- just great when she's shedding and the air goes on.

She's really my love though. We have 2 dogs- I know the lab is the one that would protect me to her death. How do you thank them for that kind of loyalty? Love that Lola!

That's my Bear too! :lovestruc

My golden follows from room to room always settling in the doorway so I can't get by without having to step over him...likewise if I'm curled on the couch he'll lie along the front so I have to step on him to get up. I figure he sleeps there knowing I can't sneak away without waking him.

Our Chocolate Lab sleeps on a dog bed. The kicker is that is is on top of the love seat :)

We take it off the loveseat when company comes or we need the space and he gets all annoyed that he is not allowed up, but will sleep on the bed in the corner.

But if nobody is on the loveseat he will sleep there, so we keep the bed there with some blankets to protect the cushions.

Beyond that he will sleep with our son at night. He makes the rounds once everyone is in bed and checks on everyone.

Normally steals a shoe from everyone also. You come out in the morning and 4 shoes (one from each of us) are on his bed

:rotfl: I guess he figures you can't go anywhere with just one shoe.

Aww, I love my guy. He is a great protector and watch dog. He's getting old, so that's pretty much all he does now besides eat. :)

we had a lab when i was younger. he would sleep in front of the air vents, probably because it kept him cool in summer and warm in winter. he loved to wake us up. my mom would have him downstairs and then when it was time for us to get ready, she'd say "okay, go get them!" and he'd run into each of our rooms, jump on us in bed and lick our faces until we responded, and then would run on to the next and then go report back to mom. if one of us took too long, he came back up lol
