Why does everyone love HOJO?

We are going to be staying either July 1st and 2nd or July 7th and 8th. So far I don't see an entertainment rate on-line. Would I be more successful calling the hotel? Would this change in time? For instance, could I see a better rate for those dates if I tried again in a month or so?
Are there any other discounts to consider if SD50 isn't offered.

There's also a DISboard discount code (15% off): LNDB

You could book a room now with the DISboard discount, and then just keep checking HOJO's website to see if an Entertainment rate is available for your dates. If an Entertainment rate does become available, book it and cancel your first reservation.

It wouldn't hurt to try. I've heard that when calling it's better to call the hotel directly and ask for in-house reservations rather than call the 800 national reservation number. Even though we travel during the off season, I've never been successful in getting the 50% off rate. I booked our rooms with an Annual Passholder Rate then called every week for three months checking on the Entertainment Rate without success.

i always stay here whenever im in town. and i always make sure that i talk to in-house reservations. i think theyre open mon-fri 8a to 5p, and sat from 8a-12p.

FYI, keep trying to get the rate, and if you're looking online, split your stay up day-by-day (I read that they are trying to change their system so you don't have to do it, but for now, it will only show you rates through your entire stay, not split it up). It's possible even having the good rate for part of your trip, and perhaps the Dis boards discount (or AP discount if you have that) could average out to less than somewhere else.

I made the mistake of not checking when I was 2 weeks out from my last visit, and I didn't pay attention to the cancelation policy of the hotel I was booked with, so when I went in to check 48+ before checkin and I saw that suddenly the Ent. rate was available, I couldn't take advantage of it b/c I had a 72 hour cancellation time.

So keep checking, if you wish, until you're at your hotel's cancellation limit. You never know what might pop up!

Thanks for the tip! I think I will keep trying, I've just been putting the code online. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, it just shows me higher rates, and says nothing about the code I entered??? Were going to try calling.

My husband said on nights where I'm super tired or if I don't feel good (I have health problems so I have my bad days) he'll go get the car and pick me up even. Anything to save that much I guess.:rotfl:

I noticed others here are getting it around when were going, so it's still worth a try.

Definitely call the hotel. Out of the seven nights I wanted, two of the dates were not showing the entertainment rate online, when I called the hotel, they WERE available. :thumbsup2

I'm noticing the last trip you took, and I'm wondering if you have APs (since taking two trips inside of a 365 day period makes much more $$ sense if you have an AP). If you do, their AP discount, I believe, is 20% off.

And yes, keep checking. I checked for about 5 weeks for my one-night stay, saw nothing for the ent rate, then 3 days before my trip it popped up. Too late for me, as I was inside of the Carousel (booked through travelocity) cancelation period, but things DO pop up!

If you call the 800# they will ONLY know about the national HoJo ent rate, which is paltry compared to the "real" Anaheim HJ ent. rate. :) In fact I've called the local number, and it rang a long time then I could hear a click sort of change in the ring, and I was sent to the 800#. I asked if she was in house reservations, and she LIED and said she was. When she had no clue about the good rate, I asked her point blank if she was actually AT the hotel, and she finally admitted she was not. I thanked her and hung up, rather annoyed!
