Why does Disney change extra for three people in a room with two beds?

Just checking Septembers rate at Asm. Two beds, 2 people in resort room? It’s like $30 dollars extra for a third person? Does it matter if I put down two guest verses three? Is their some room police that check on you at night?

The extra person also won’t be eligible for Magical Express, early morning entry, or any other perks that may come along for resort guests. I know it’s a little frustrating because I still consider them my “kids” but they are actually adults.

Well, what I am just learning that extra hours will only be for deluxe resorts and no need for magic express as I live here. Only reason i may consider booking is for possibility of dining plans returning. This is crazy how much they have watered down perks for staying onsite.

extra hours will only be for deluxe resorts
That's not entirely correct. While yes evening extra hours will only be for deluxe resort guests, all on-site resort guests will be allowed early-entry every day at each park. An unnamed person would not have access to the same bucket of park reservations, either.

And just to clarify... the extra charge is not for 3 guests in a room with 2 beds. It is for 3 adults in a room; no extra charge for the family suites. It's a pretty standard practice in the hotel industry.

Most hotels are like this. Each extra guest costs the resort extra money. They will use extra towels, linens, & toiletries. They use extra water & electricity. They add to the wear & tear the rooms take from normal use. They *may* make more work for the housekeeping staff. They are one more person using any of the hotel amenities. And so on.

I think it's pretty cheeky to be charging the extra adult fee right now. Hard to make more work for housekeeping when there isn't any. And hard to use up extra towels when they aren't bringing them.

Since re-opening Disney has increased prices while not offering many things that those prices used to cover. This is just one example of that. :)

You also risk being assigned a king bed room if you leave the 3rd person off. I realize king bed is a bookable category. But Disney does sometimes “upgrade” guests to accommodate the resorts needs.

And just curious, you would want the dining plan, but not for the 3rd person?

Focusondisney, what i am saying is that the resorts are charging for parking at the resorts, an extra person. I have not been to Disney in multiple years and always stay at the resorts with a family of 5. It’s hard for me to consider staying at a resorts when I could get perks at non Disney resorts. Im just sad because I loved having Mickey wake me up every morning.

If you don’t list 3rd person will they be able to get park reservations? That 30 min early morning is a joke. But they won’t get it.
I agree it’s ridiculous to charge for 3rd person. And the age they consider adult is ridiculous too. I don’t think Marriott does?

You don’t need to stay on sight to get park reservations, you need a ticket. Already have tickets and park reservations. 30 minutes is a joke , by the time you get to the castle the rest of the guests will be let in. Still hoping for residents rates to drop lower, that’s when I will make final decision. Btw, many excellent non Disney resorts don’t charge for an extra person or for parking.

Disney has been charging for the 3rd (and 4th) adult in their resort rooms for years. I mean for decades. This isn’t some post-pandemic money grabbing or anything new. I’m 36 and remember when I turned 18 our family had to begin paying the extra adult fee….so it’s been in place at least 18 years.

That's when my dad started bringing his "granddaughters". This was all before MDE/DME/etc. when nothing was really tied together.
