Why does anyone go to DTD?

Apparently, it's not enough to be a fun place to eat (in a rainforest, or with dinosaurs, or on a riverboat, etc.), drink , peoplewatch, ride a train, play with Legos, go to a circus, shop for Disney-themed items, play videogames, etc. - if it's not a gateway to a full-fledged theme park, why bother?

I think the inability to find a parking spot in that mammoth lot at almost any time after 5 p.m. is some indication of the popularity of DTD as a destination unto itself.

Thank you for realizing DTD is a disaster now and having them transform it into Disney Springs:thumbsup2 I want the power you have to fix some parks:lmao: BTW I'm just messing with you I couldn't resist and I know what you were trying to say:rotfl2:

I like DTD and I usually go to DTD a couple times each trip for lunch/dinner and shopping. If were taking it easy at the resort during the day I'll drive down to get lunch at EOS. I won't take Disney transportation to DTD unless I have to since I can be there in half the time driving myself(buses take a long route). A relaxing night with dinner WPE, EOS, Portobellos, Rain or T-Rex(if kids are with us) then shopping or a movie is a nice break from the parks on a long trip.
:thumbsup2
~I really wish I had super powers, otherwise it would not be called "Disney Springs!" Actually, I think Disney just wanted to punish me. :rotfl:

I thought it was a useless destination too until my wife forgot to pack socks for our daughter on our last trip! What do you know, there's a sock store in DTD, Awesome! Of course the don't sell socks for 2 year year old so yes DTD is still a pretty useless destination! I must admit the sandwich at Earl of Sandwich was pretty tasty though. :)

I am looking forward to seeing what Disney does with the rehab. The drawings I've seen so far look pretty nice.

The movie theater is good for when the parks close but you want to still do something aside from sit in the hotel room. Unless it changed since 2006, it's one of the best theaters I've been too.

Why does anyone go to DTD??

House of Blues -
Lobster Mac-n-Cheese and Shrimp-n-Grits with a side of Jalepeno Cornbread and a Mojito!!

I like going to DTD at DL, but NOT to shop! We tend to park in those lots and walk into the park - so we don't need to deal with the wait at the tram. Since we live locally, so we tend to only go for an hour or so each time - NOT worth the tram hassle.

We also LOVE the UVA Bar and Catal in the middle of DTD, and my daughter's favorite Build-a-Bear Workshop keeps her busy while we wait for food!

We often stop at DTD disney the first night we are on property. We don't spend more than a few hours, but we find it enjoyable...especially Earl of Sandwich. I'm looking forward to the improvements.

Shopping.

This is why DTD at WDW does not appeal to me. I don't like shopping. I don't want to shop and spend extra $$. When I shop it's just to get what we need. I don't shop for leisure. I'm not rich and if we did that we'd never have $$ to go on vacation. I also don't want my kid whining about everything he sees because I don't buy him stuff just because. After seeing all those stores he'd be on overload. I don't know if I'd travel from the parks or the resort using Disney transportation just to eat. Food just doesn't seem that worth it. Disney Quest would be something to consider though.

I don't buy much at Disney either, but I'm a big "browser". I can go through stores all day just looking, except the Christmas store, which I love and always buy an ornament.

We like DTD! I'm not a big shopper/spender "Just to spend", but we like browsing, grabbing a Wetzel's pretzel, or having a bite to eat at EoS or WPE. And listening to the Disney music is nice too. :) This year we will be visiting DTD on our way to our hotel.. I'm looking forward to that stop!!! :goodvibes

love walking around and shopping at night, the atmosphere is lovely.

We usually go to dtd on the day we do Hollywood studios. We don't spend that much time in that particular park so at night we go to get whatever souvniers we want, have supper and get ice cream. I do miss pi,the neon armidillo was our favorite.

We used to go every night of our holidays to take a look at the pin trading tables but now they're gone we go a couple of times for a stroll around and maybe an Earl Of Sanwich and Ghiradellis.

My son's favorite place in all of WDW is Disney Quest. We eat at WPE, visit the Christmas shop and then Disney Quest. Very fun evening!

I have to admit that the Christmas shop might be deadly, lol. I'm always looking for ways to add to and spruce up the holidays. Gah! I didn't know there was a Christmas store!

Very interested in Disney Quest!
