Why do you sail concierge?

An additional $12,000?!?! I mean, really, DCL is waaaaay over the top with these prices. I'm sorry, it cannot be worth it. I agree with you, maybe - maybe I could justify the $4,000 extra but that is even stretching it and would have to be for a very special occasion.
Well, I think in the scenario that you describe we would opt for the Cat V room also and not pay for the Cat T. We love the concierge level rooms and service and we would much rather a Cat T over a Cat V but we want to keep things in perspective also. The Fantasy concierge rooms are crazy expensive which is why we have preferred back to back on the Dream the last few years. That way we get a more affordable concierge room and two stops at CC along with two cabanas.

We also try to book our sailings on opening day and off season to get better deals as well. Spring Break, Holidays and Summer time cruising we avoid.

And, the cabanas aren't free with concierge, right? Two stops at Castaway - that is another $800-$1,000 added to the bill. Too rich for our blood. We're happy just to be on the ship and on the beautiful island of CC.

First off I'd like to say that I'm very blessed with the way that we get to travel and we don't take it for granted, but always sail concierge with DCL. Concierge isn't for everyone, even people who could easily afford it, it's more just about personal opinion. The biggest perk is the concierge service. Not only do you get onboard concierge crew members to cater to your every wish, you have shoreside concierge pre-cruise. They do everything from planning your port adventures to making sure you get the exact table you want inside the MDRs. Both platinum and concierge members are available to book port adventures, specialty dining, and onboard activities 120 days prior to sailing, but concierge guests are contacted 125 days prior asking what they want by shoreside concierge, and they put it in an online system that will automatically book all concierge guests into their activities at midnight 120 days prior. Then you wake up to an email saying everything that was booked for you. We have never not had a shore excursion/activity/dining time not successfully booked. Sailing concierge is a sure fire way to obtaining a cabana on Castaway Cay. All ships now have a concierge lounge which is a major perk. The private lounge is especially nice for my family, because when we travel we normally have 3-4 staterooms and the lounge serves as a great location we can all meet that is close to the room. There's also snacks, hors d'oeuvres, and drinks available throughout the day for free. You can even take as much back to your room as you want including bottled water and canned sodas. Concierge crew members will tell you not to order a water package since you do get as much as you want for free. There's also two nightly concierge receptions with free beer, wine, and spirits. There's one for each dinner time, but you can always go to both. My step sister and I's favorite drink is a malibu and coke, and they never have it on the first night, but we always ask for one and he goes and gets a bottle and then makes sure to have it every night after. The sundeck is my mother's favorite perk, mainly because she doesn't like having to wake up early and fighting for deck chairs. Priority boarding and departure is also a nice perk. Also if you have a port where tendering is required, concierge guests will be escorted down by their concierge team with no need to wait for a tender time/ticket. Other quick perks are: Free bagged air popped popcorn if you're going to see a show/movie or just want popcorn, exclusive character meet and greet (usually pluto, goofy, or minnie), complimentary gifts, Down Duvets in Concierge master bedrooms, pillow menu program, plush robes and slippers in staterooms, Media Library located in the Concierge Lounge, this library features an extensive selection of music CDs, DVDs, video games and board games for your family to enjoy in the comfort of your suite, and Complimentary WiFi Internet Service (up to 100mb). If you have any specific questions about any of these perks please ask. Also in my opinion, the concierge team has a low turnover in the means of the crew members. We've sailed with a majority of the concierge team before, and they do such a great job of remembering us.

The Dream also has it's own sundeck for concierge guests?

I think all four ships have private areas outside the Lounge now

We'll be paying an extra $2100 to upgrade from a cat 7A to V on our 7 night Southern Caribbean cruise the Wonder in January. I'm not sure if it will be 'worth it' in the end, but I am excited to know. :)

We bit the bullet when it was announced they were changing some rooms into cat Vs and it is much cheaper than it would be to do on the Fantasy for a week - and much cheaper than the cat Ts were of course. We won't be able to do in room dining but we'll be basically guaranteed our own table in the MDRs which is a huge plus for us as communal tables are the only part about them we dislike. I like the themes and mini "shows" that you get and would hate to miss out on them.

I'll also be making heavy use of that espresso machine...! :D

I'm on the Jan. 28th Southern Caribbean on the Wonder! We are also Concierge.... trust me, it's worth it on the Wonder.

We have loved sailing concierge for so long but on our last cruise, I think we are finally ready to cut the cord.

We have done the cabana several times (it is wonderful but pricey and makes me feel like I really have to utilize it to get my money's worth) and we love the lounge and sundeck but find that we want to hit some of the bars (we especially love the Cadillac on the Wonder) and don't really need the concierge amenities.

That said, for many cruises it was ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT to me. However, we are looking forward to some extra funds this time and doing some new things (we may be at Remy 3x--brunch, assiettes, and dinner). We will miss early boarding and the wonderful hosts. They are amazing and really become friends but it is not necessary to sail concierge to have a great cruise!

Thats the same one we are on! Maybe we'll see you in the lounge. I'll be the one who makes a honey latte every day. ;) Even better if they also have matcha so I can switch it up... do you know if they do?

Those are some of the things I am most excited about! I love my coffee.

I watched a YouTube video about the Wonder concierge sun deck. It looks amazing! You get a great ocean view from there. It looked nicer than the one on the Magic (which I will be on).

Sweet!! I'm soooo excited for this cruise! I might have to try a honey latte! YUM!!! I'll be the one who can't stop eating the chocolate covered marshmallows. I'm not even a fan of marshmallows, but THOSE are delish!!!!

**Edit: I do not know if they have matcha... I never went near the tea. I couldn't get away from the lattes. SO GOOD!

Does anyone have pictures of the concierge areas on the Magic. We are considering booking our first concierge sailing, and I would like to see some pics of these areas before doing so.

Do you know (or have a way to get an estimate) for the Cat Vs on wonder? Looking over past cruises on Wonder they've only had Cat T+, which Doubles the price of our cruise.

I have an autistic little, as well as health issues for my so, and think the quiet would be a great help.

Hey Trera! It's me from the beach on CC, cabana 4 from our cruise about a week ago! It was nice to me you and your friends and family :)

It was a pleasure meeting you as well. We ended up getting cabana 2 on the next leg of our B2B and had another great weather day at CC.

Glad you had a safe trip home.
