I was just wondering for those of you that stay at more than one hotel during your vacation, why do you do it? Is moving from one hotel to another worth it? Is it a chore having to move from one hotel to another in the middle of your stay?

We do it because we like to check out other resorts & to extend our vacation when we've used up all our DVC points for the year!

The Horror!

It really isn't all that hard to do. Don't over pack and have Disney move your luggage for you. Works like a charm. If we are only staying 1 night prior I pack a separate bag with just 1 nights worth of clothing.

You'll never know until you try it!

Edited to add: Welcome to the Dis!

Choices - we are going for 8 nights and are spending 4 at AKL and 4 at YC. My DH and DD#2 love animals -- so the first half of the vacation is at the AKL to appease them. The second half of the vacation is at the YC -- which for me (and DD#1) is more appealing than the AKL. This way everyone gets a little of what they want and we all have a good time.

Haven't experienced the movement of luggage yet, but I'll let you know how that goes when we return. I've packed ALLOT of clothing for us because I don't want to have to do laundry while we are gone. However, we're down to 4 suitcases for 3 people (DD#1 doesn't live at home and will pack on her own) for 8 days -- two outfits a day -- so I think we planned well.

I do it for the same reason MAC3 said. DVC points for weekends are about double those of weekdays and we like to stay longer than 5 nights. We love our Beach Club Villa's home, but like to experience the other resorts too so we just tack on 2-3 days at one of the resorts for the weekend high points days. It really isn't a big deal to move. You just pack up your stuff and have Bell Services pick it up and transfer it to the Disney resort where you're moving to, go off and enjoy a park day, then take the bus to the new resort and have Bell Services bring up your luggage. We don't totally unpack for the extra days, just unpack what we'll need.

As i said in another post about this, each disney resort is an experience unto itself...so why not get a taste of two different resorts on a trip??

In august we will be at BWV for 3 nights and then Poly GVC for 4 nights...this appeases everyone in our family...also it puts us close to Epcot and MGM for 4 days, so we can do those parks, and then when we switch to the Poly we will do the MK and then AK...

switching has never been a hassle for us...

We think it's totally worth it!! We also take our car to WDW, so we just throw our stuff in the car and drive to the resort. I consider it a bonus that we can "sample" more than 1 resort per stay. My goal is to try all of them and pick a fave or 2. So far, AKL is ahead, although I've only stayed at WL,POR, and AKL. Next trip will be CBR or CSR and YC or Poly................decisions, decisons.

I've only done it once but it was so awesome - like 2 vacays in one!;) I look fwd. to splitting another stay soon.
It's fun to try the resorts I've been wanting to...
it's also fun to stay in different parts of WDW in one trip.
We did a WL/AKL split in April and it was awesome being so close to MK for a few days and then so close to the AK for a few days.
I will only split when I can do a few nights at each. I'd love to try 4 nights at YC and 4 nights at Poly sometime (never stayed at either!)

We just resort hopped for the first time this past Feb. and really enjoyed the atmosphere of two different resorts on the same vacation. With Disney doing the luggage transfer we didn't loose any fun park time. We will do it again, but not on next years trip since we'll have a six month old along.

I really, REALLY wanted to experience the BWV one bedroom on rented DVC points. It is not very affordable for me to spend all of my 6 nights in the DVC villa.

So ... I spent 3 nights at The Swan on gov't rate, and then I just wheeled my luggage by myself over to BWV for my next 3 nights.
It was pretty easy ... with only one downside, I felt that I could not fully "burrow-in" to the first resort. However, switching this way, at the half point, was convenient because I had the washer - dryer right in my room. I did a load of laundry half way through my trip. The jacuzzi tub in my room was perfect because by that time, my lower back needed the extra care.
I did this last early December. This coming early December I will do the same thing, but with POR / BWV. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Keep in mind these are solo trips. It might be more difficult with a family.

Its also the first time we're going for 2 weeks. I don't think I'd do it if we were going for a shorter stay. We are wicked stoked about this trip!!!!!
